Brad Muir did just say in the Martian Bear TNT that it would take a TONS of money from someone to get the a sequel to Psychonauts started.......And then this happens a week later. I think its really cool that Notch is doing this. Double Fine, meet TONS of money from someone wanting to start a Psychonauts 2.

There are people who normally are contributors to Encyclopedia Britannica back in the day have moved on to actually contributing to Wikipedia. That policy seems very antiquated now if those who put the policy in place haven't even been checking up on what's happening to current day Encyclopedias...Even current day encyclopedia's have errors which don't get corrected until the next edition or until they put out a revision.

I'm not sure you are entirely grasping what's being said here, he means,

If you are making a claim, statement or quoting something, you should cite where it came from, it's good practice, he doesn't mean literally linking to a Wikipedia page.

For example:

"Person X said this: 'blah blah blah' on Twitter yesterday"

*cue link to actual tweet*

(for proof mainly, and for others to verify any facts or to see the evidence first hand to draw their own conclusions, basically it's very important)

Guys, I think this is about to happen.

I started following this about five minutes after it started and have been kind of high on the potential all day. This could end up letting everyone down if it doesn't pan out, but it could also end up being one of the greatest videogame industry stories of all time.

Just imagine. Indie developer makes game that sells tens of millions of dollars worth before it is even launched. Uses money to help another developer (certainly indie in spirit, if not actuality) fulfill his and many gamers' dreams. No middlemen. No publisher bullshit (hopefully). Just two dudes. One who deserves all the success in the world and one who got all the success in the world and has used it for good things (always donating a ton to Humble Indie Bundles, etc).

I will pre-order this if that helps it happen. Tell me that you need my money today for a game you will provide me in three or four years. I will buy five copies. Right now. This needs to happen. This is the kind of no-bullshit, non-corporate, non-DRM, non-trademark-dispute, non-everything-else story that we all need.

Seriously, I know this may take days or months to ever even be resolved, BUT I WANT THEM TO KISS AND GET IT ON ALREADY.

Let's make Dreamcast 2 happen and Shenmue 3 and Skies of Arcadia 2 are launch titles.

I wish I had the money to pay someone to make a sequel to a game I love, it would not be Psychonauts 2, but good for people who liked the first game. I had it on PS2 but barely played it before selling it.

Still it's pretty awesome.

Like Mojang/Notch? I honestly see some potential in this. Dude who has money to spend and is willing to support a cause he believes in lets creative genius work on the game he wants to make.

Uh. Yeah, dude. He sold more than $60,000,000 USD worth of Minecraft more than six months ago and founded Mojang to make even more games (Minitale, Scrolls, who knows what else). This could be the chance Schafer needs to really hit it big. We live in an awesome world. I don't say this necessarily excited for a Psychonauts 2. I have to admit I've never played the original but I feel like I really should. How is the PC version?

Sorry to get everyone up in arms, but yes, the original post as-is was not good journalism. Taking a couple Twitter posts and calling it a story is the kind of lazy writing we see everywhere on the web these days, because everyone wants to be first, even if they haven't bothered to, you know, verify a story before running it. I guess I long for the days of journalism when you had to call someone and get 2 sources before you run with something. But hey, Twitter counts a a quote now, right? I guess the internet has passed me by.

The news story was the Tweets. The sources were direct, as in the Tweets, so it's verified. It exists. It happened. He wasn't misreporting or inferring something that wasn't there or sensationalizing anything. Someone with a lot of money seriously Tweeted to a man with a passion to make a game, and that's big news. And look at this, they're in talks now! It's fine reporting, even if the story is short.

As much as I would love to think this will lead to something Psychonauts related in the future, I can't believe that this will actually happen. Even if Notch provides the money necessary--which is more than possible--there still won't be enough support to make any of that money back.

I'd buy a copy of Psychonauts 2 if it came out.
