Most Popular Achievements (9/19 - 9/25)

What if The Beatles wore ODST armor? The top spot would never be the same again.

All right, the weekend is pretty much here, so it's time to take a look at what people like you have been reading up on when it comes to achievements for Steam and Xbox Live. I don't think it will surprise you to see that this week's big release, Halo 3: ODST, has taken over the top spot from The Beatles: Rock Band. Now, the big unreleased game that everyone's keeping track of appears to be Brutal Legend. And... yeah, Garry's Mod is still in the top ten list. That's still weirding me out.

The real story in ODST.

Top Ten Sets

  1. Halo 3: ODST
  2. The Beatles: Rock Band
  3. Madden NFL 10
  4. Batman: Arkham Asylum
  5. Garry's Mod
  6. DIRT 2
  7. Darkest of Days
  8. Brutal Legend
  9. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2
  10. Trine

OK, if you like looking at achievement lists for games that aren't out yet, this is your week. The aforementioned Brutal Legend is up in there, along with stuff like Borderlands, the next game in the WWE SmackDown! series, and Band Hero. Band Hero, by the way, appears to have an achievement that's worth 490 points. That's... a lot of points. Forza Motorsport 3 has also appeared in the system, but Microsoft currently has its achievements set up so they don't show up anywhere but on an actual Xbox 360 (or, I guess, PC if you're a GFWL type of gal). So if someone on your friends list is somehow playing Forza 3 already, you can view the list. But everywhere else, it just shows as a zero-point game. Expect that list to go wide on the game's release date, October 27.

Spinning the spinner belt is, sadly, not an achievement this year.

New Sets

Let's close it out again with the most popular individual achievements. Keep in mind that this is a traffic-oriented list, so it's probably from people typing in "garry's mod secret phrase" on a search engine or stuff like that. You'd think that everyone that cares about Garry's Mod would already know about the secret phrase, but it just keeps hanging around. I guess with its recent half-off sale, a bunch of new players are getting into it. Of course, Halo 3: ODST is representing big on this list, as well. Some people are reporting that the Super Sleuth achievement is glitched and doesn't properly unlock. I didn't run into that issue, so I'm of no help on that one.

Dude is still hanging onto one of the top individual achievements.

Top Ten Individual

  1. Halo 3: ODST - Naughty Naughty
  2. Batman: Arkham Asylum - World's Greatest Detective
  3. Halo 3: ODST - Super Sleuth
  4. Garry's Mod - Secret Phrase
  5. Halo 3: ODST - Good Samaritan
  6. Halo 3: ODST - Campaign Complete: Legendary
  7. Garry's Mod - Are You The Real Garry?
  8. DIRT 2 - I Ain't Afraid Of No Ghost!
  9. Halo 3 - Citadel Skull
  10. Halo 3: ODST - Both Tubes

OK, that does it for this week. I think it's safe to assume that ODST isn't going anywhere any time soon, and as you can see, its release spurred a Halo 3 achievement into the list, too. It's for one of the new Halo 3 maps that you can only get on that ODST multiplayer disc.

Oh, hey, one more quick thing. With regards to support for PlayStation 3 trophies, I've been told that we have top men working on it right now. Top men. That should mix this list up pretty heavily, and it'll be exciting to see how all this turns out. Hang in there.
