I've been shaking my fist since it got released in Japan. Depending on price it will be an instant purchase.

@RampageAssassin: Well if it's anything like the Japanese version, it'll be around $15 (it's 1500 yen in Japan) for everything past Chapter 2. If memory serves, they also have it available in chunks, so you can pay like 300 yen for a couple of chapters at a time.

I believe when it first came out in Japan for the iPad, it was like 2500 yen... which was more than I was willing to pay.

I'm exceedingly excited for this! I always wanted to play Ghost Trick (it's a game on my list, but I haven't gotten around to playing it), but through just buying it on the app store (and on top of that being partially free!) I have more than enough motivation to finally see what the sensation surrounding it is all about.

Complaining about things on the internet actually works guys! I'm sticking to my theory that someone at Capcom forgot. I like to imagine a hefty but not enormous man, snoozing in a rolling chair with his feet up on his desk and his internet browser open on the itunes connect page. And then he receives a call.

Maybe Tested will do an app of the day video.

This plus the Phoenix Wright news from yesterday makes me so excited to be playing DS games on my phone. I almost bought this before Christmas, but I forgot where my DS was, so this will be a reason to play it.

Now if I could only get the Ghost Trick soundtrack (legally) my Ghost Trick related prayers would be answered...

Bought this for my girlfriend's DS as a present a couple of months ago with the hidden agenda to play it after her. Just started it last week now and it is pretty awesome!

@iAmJohn: Don't have a DS, also on android so can't play this version either. I'll get a DS eventually, then I'll enjoy the delights that Ghost Trick has to offer.

If you happen to have a DS then yeah you should have this already... looks fantastic.

@Slezak: Ghost Trick is one of the few games that I find would translate well for iOS, but not all DS ports do, so I wouldn't rule out dedicated handhelds just yet.

nah that has nothing to do with his ability to play it in the last few months on a DS or the bc 3DS it may be newsworthy but patrick clearly wasn't going to play it until it was on an iOS device

Such an awesome game. Wouldn't quite call it an Ace Attorney, but it's great on it's own right.

I'm happy more people are able to play it, and giving away the first two episodes free is a great business model for getting people hooked on the awesome story this game has.

But for real, I dunno why Patrick hasn't already played it. It's great and has been readily available on the DS for over a year. At least I didn't have much trouble finding it when I bought it months ago. But whatever floats your boat, as long as Ghost Trick gets support.

I don't see any hostility, but that's maybe just me. And he doesn't seem not chilled out either.

He's been dogging Patrick about it since the last article, where Patrick casually mentioned in passing that he wanted to play the game on iPad. It's really not necessary for him to keep insistently nagging him about it, the dude can play the game on whatever system he bloody well wants.

Also, cool that it's coming to iOS. I wasn't crazy about the game like everyone else seems to be, but I still thought it was a pretty unique and interesting idea for a puzzle game.

I've played S:S&S EP already. I thought it was overrated compared to all the hype it had received and doesn't compare to better games ported over to iOS. An average game at best.

Puzzlejuice is a good combination of Tetris and Boggle. Still not great.

I was kinda hoping for the same thing. Maybe it'll make it over soon if the iOS version gets some love to make it worthwhile.

Already played this game on the DS, but I'll probably pick it up and play it again on the iPad. Freaking great puzzle/adventure game.

If anything, I'll buy this solely to encourage Capcom to bring the iOS release of Ace Attorney 1-3 to the US as well.

waited for this to come to iOS since it came out. for the simple reason that i always have my iphone in my pocket and it looked like the type of game i can just pick up and play.

i never take my DS with me as its to big for my pockets.

i agree most of the best games on iOS are ports, but don't see how that matters at all. but there are some that are not, i think Cut the Rope is a fantastic game as is tiny wings.

This is exciting news! Maybe a sequel will happen now, or at least additional chapters for iOS. More people need to discover Ghost Trick.

I got it. Framerate seems iffy just like the DS version but I'm guessing thats because of the rotoscoped animation. It also doesn't look as crisp as the intro movie which sucks but still looks great.

Go and get this game now.

I'm playing it right now and certainly am enjoying it. I reckon I'll pay for the episodes but the prices are pretty steep for an iOS game though...

Considering my brother paid full-price for the DS Ghost Tricks, the iOS price is nice. I hope the game runs well.

My point being the people claiming that dedicated handhelds are dead or in trouble due to smart phones, when the best games on their platform of choice are ports from dedicated handhelds and older home consoles. I'm pretty sure there will be a good number of them complaining about the price of this on iOS too.

I don't have a problem with people wanting to play it on iOS. I enjoyed the game on the DS and I will at the very least try the free chapters on iOS because it is a great game.

Downloaded it, played the two free chapters and bought the rest, pretty great game and a good iOS version

Reading back my comment, yeah okay I can see how my incredulousness sounds like me being needlessly hostile. Sorry about that.

Still, it's hard for me to read things like this without throwing my arms up in frustration and yelling "Where the fuck were you people in the first place when it mattered?!" I mean, we're talking about a game that came out when literally nothing else was coming out (I'm pretty sure Ghost Trick was one of the first retail games, if not THE first retail game, released in 2011; it's certainly the first new game I bought last year), deservedly got excellent reviews and a ton of fan love, and sold nothing. Yeah, some of the replies I've gotten have made some salient points, like how Capcom viciously undershipped the game (Which I'll concede, since they didn't even stock it in Best Buy or, I'm assuming, a bunch of the other big retailers) or the piracy issue (which I buy less; it's really not that hard to jailbreak an iDevice, guys, so piracy is going to be just as big an issue for Ghost Trick on iOS as it has been on DS), and I know that it being on other platforms means the game can still be a success in some way and get in the hands of more people, but that also assumes a lot of faith in Capcom that I don't have. Ghost Trick was a failure, and considering how much of an afterthought iOS has typically been for Capcom--where their biggest games are a bowdlerized version of Street Fighter IV, a bunch of crappy NES and SNES ports and a game that rips off 'Splosion Man wholesale--I don't think any success that game sees on iOS is going to give us the possibility of more from that universe, or allowing Shu Takumi to experiment with non-Phoenix Wright related stuff for a while.

And frankly, all it does is remind me of when that game was coming out, and all the posts I remembered seeing on the internet of people bitching that Capcom wasn't bringing the iOS version over at the same time and people were just going to wait for that. I find it hard to say that any game deserves to tank, but Ghost Trick especially didn't deserve it, and there's a whole cadre of people who didn't care because it being on DS wasn't good enough; they'd only bite if it was on their iPad. As someone who loves the game, that's kind of frustrating.

Honestly--and I'm not accusing you or anyone else in these comments of this, this is simply me spitballing--it makes me wonder how much of the "Apple is killing dedicated handheld gaming" hand-wringing is a self-fulfilling prophecy. When a game comes out on DS that is fantastic and worth playing and just so happens to be on the best selling video game system of all time, you see the endless bitching about it not being on iPhone or whatever and no one buys it. And then we don't get more of these games and people bitch about that. Well you know what? Maybe you should have fucking supported a great game in the first place instead of whining about how you want to play it on an iPod Touch. Then maybe people would shut up about the whole "death of handheld gaming" nonsense. I'm glad that people are excited to play Ghost Trick, I really am, but it shouldn't have had to come at the expense of the game failing miserably in its first outing, and there's a part of me that thinks that people just let it happen.

its £6.99 in the UK for it all, how is that steep when it was £30 for the DS, in fact its still £19 on amazon.

@jetsetwillie: Considering Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (another DS port) was half that price, £6.99 is steep. Not even the likes of Infinity Blade, which an iOS-exclusive game, costs that much.

@iAmJohn: that was also about the time people stopped caring about BUYING DS games. It was all pirated or just ignored in favor of IOS games.

Picked it up, couldn't put it down until I finished it. Damn that was a great game.

I wish more people supported this game when it came out for the DS!
