Rockstar Releases First L.A. Noire DLC, Explains Why the Rockstar Pass Is Actually Worthwhile

As I've been sternly interrogating and periodically shooting my way through L.A. Noire, I have often wondered when we might start seeing DLC content for the game pop up. For as long as those cases can be, some feel rather fleeting, almost begging you to prolong the investigation just a bit in the hopes of keeping the experience going. Plus, hey, I bought the PS3 version--I want my exclusive bonus case, dammit.

I, and other PS3 users will have to wait a bit longer to start downloading all willy-nilly, but for those who are playing the Xbox 360 version of L.A. Noire, Rockstar and Team Bondi today released the first two downloadable cases: "The Naked City." a Vice case, and the traffic case, "A Slip of the Tongue."

Both of these cases can be downloaded piecemeal for 320 Microsoft Bucks ($4), or you could opt to pay for the Rockstar Pass, which as of now goes for $10 (800 Microsoft Points), though will eventually go up to $12 in June. Buying the pass pre-orders all the scheduled downloadable content through mid-July, and will actually save you 50% in total purchase pricing, provided you plan to get them all.

Two more cases are scheduled to hit in June and July. "Nicholson Electroplating Disaster," which those who pre-ordered through Best Buy may already have, will hit on June 21st. "Reefer Madness," which is officially my new favorite case before I've even played it, drops on July 12th.

Additional content available today includes the "Broderick" and "Sharpshooter" suit/gun combos, for $1 and $2 respectively, the "Badge Pursuit" challenge (again, $2) and the Chicago Piano machine gun, which is a free unlock for the Rockstar community.

Playing on PS3, will have to wait. But when the store comes back up chances are I'll be doing an evil run through with my free copy of Infamous.  
 
This game is pretty fun. The best photo hunt game with shooting out there.

I can't tell if the "Reefer Madness" picture is supposed to be a scared-straight sort of thing or the cover of a porn video. 

I am having blast with LA Noire, but I'll wait and see till after I finished the game if I want more. Seems like an OK deal.

i think i can wait for the separate DLC retail disc whenever that comes out, but dammit rockstar release that Red Dead GOTY edition, i know you're going to do it!

I watched the movie "Naked City" while waiting for L.A. Noire to arrive in the mail, actually. I'll play all the DLC eventually, but as I just finished the game without being able to access my DLC codes and whatnot, I'm not ready to jump back in for these bits and pieces. I'm all Noired out.

So... what, you have to pay 10 bucks + 2 dollars for every DLC case? Doesn't that mean that, unless they do more than 5, the pass is still more expensive?

Why PS3, you have betrayed me. You where all like look at me i can play la noire on one blu ray and run it a little better, then when where alone you stab me in the face, not even the gentlemenlyness  to stab me in the back.

No, thanks. Seems a fair price and all, but I'd rather pay $10 for one big DLC package along the lines of Undead Nightmare or some of the Borderlands offers. And you have to know that they have something bigger planned after mid-July.

So wait is the pass for all future dlc? The article says mid July but aren't they bound to make more dlc after that?  Either way still seems like a pretty cool idea.

Rockstar has stated that the DLC announced today is all of the planned DLC for the game.

Wish I'd read what that pass was before I bought the two DLCs. I assumed it was an Online Pass despite this game not having online. Gutted.

Already bought the Rockstar Pass. Such a good deal.

I just finished the game today, and I think this will be one of the first games I buy all the DLC for. 

So they are basically releasing all the pre-order DLC. I already have 'The Naked City" which was the gamestop pre-order bonus (though you didn't need to pre-order to get it), so the pass isn't quite as interesting to me for just the Walmart case, however I'll sure it will pay off since I see myself buying all the DLC anyways. 
 
Now if only the PSN Store would make its way back up, I mean it is creeping me out a bit that we haven't heard a peep about the status of that, well except for the Japanese government news.
