Skyrim’s First Downloadable Content? Dawnguard

Great! This will get me to pick Skyrim back up! Been playing batman Arkam City/Witcher2/and NBA2k12(Myplayer) <----Basically a sports RPG. I was on my second character in skyrim before I got distracted.

Yes but PC gamers get this for free. Also mods. Come to think of it, I get every game for free.

really looking forward to this. I really want a piece of badass armour for my nord to wear plus skyrim is just badass and an exuss to go back is just awesome.

I absolutely despise anything like this that's tied to backroom political bullshit where one company shelled out a fortune to get early access. Playstation 3 users get fucked over since the games launch, with it still being moderately fucked up, and they're just getting shit on again. PC users, the ones most loyal to the franchise, don't get access to this at a time when they should. And why? Because Micro$oft decided to throw money at Bethesda/ZeniMax/Satan/whoeverthefuck else just to toot their trombone and have it a month early. Decisions like this are terrible. They hurt the fucking players just because of greed. And the thing that REALLY pisses me off is the canned bullshit PR response to the criticism that Bethesda is getting, written by Bethesda community manager Matt Grandstaff;

And I quote, "We have been committed to fans on all platforms. We continue to work on new updates adding new features and with PC specifically, we’ve put more effort into the Creation Kit and Workshop than previous modding tools. We’ll have plenty more to share on our support for Skyrim soon."

I want to shove my computer up their collective asses. Todd Howard can be first on the list. I should not be punished because I don't own a broken fucking console with 7 year old hardware that shits itself every year because it gets a little to hot and the components decide to melt.

how long till pc guys just mod all the new shit in there for free?

@AlexW00d: Not true. All those mentioned games were better on a 360, Assasins creed had a terrible framerate and pop in.

For anyone asking about the PS3 version of Skyrim, it's perfectly playable after 1.5. I've started my third character recently, and at a total of over 250 hours between them all. Still love this game.

I sure hope Bethseda as Patrick calls it in this article has something cool up their sleeve too.

Also if I'm correct and this is an expansion dealing with Meridia and defending (or aiding) a undead invasion of sorts on Skyrim (or her realm The Colored Rooms) it does not rule out a vampire overhaul or Vampire led undead army. A skeleton invasion would be nice. There's plenty of space to work with Skeletons and the Draugrs in the ancient tombs. Zombies are not the only undead in the Elder Scrolls universe.

The 360 timed exclusive thing is a bit shit, but I guess I don't care *that* much as long as I can avoid hearing all about the DLC before it's even released on PC.

They said from the start that DLC would be 360 timed exclusive. You'll only have a wait a month or so before you can play on PC or PS3. I'll play it first on 360 and then later on PC. No big deal.

The best thing may be to put all your unneeded items into a corpse, since those will eventually disappear.

Microsoft paid out the big money to get this first, so their users could bugfix this thing before it hits Steam.

I think you might be mistaken on a few of those.

Red Dead Redemption's softer and murkier visuals on the PS3 were pretty well documented. Similar issues occurred with GTA IV, but if I remember correctly the only major difference there was the PS3 rendering at a lower resolution but managing a slightly smoother frame-rate in a few cases, so take your pick. The majority of reviews and analysis I read mentioned the Assassin's Creed games being sharper and running more consistently on the X360. I distinctly remember Kevin VanOrd's review only because he mentioned the PS3 version was smoother, and that the consensus of virtually every other review was the opposite case.

Maybe the Saboteur ran better, I don't know. You could mention Portal 2, which definitely looked better on the PS3. The PS3 is a fine system, I really like mine, but I have to acknowledge it must be a booger to program for.

I made a 2nd character that only carries what they need. I'd like to have my first one be playable for DLC and stuff.

Meh, I guess Ill play Skyrim again....  If theres DLC where you get to kill those two dragon killer people or whatever theyre called Ill be on board right away

I still need to beat Skyrim but I get so side tracked in that game that it probably won't happen for a while.

@spazmaster666: The 360 version is hardly comparable to the mess that came out for the PS3. There weren't memory leak issues that rendered playing the game at length impossible. Obviously the console version weren't running as well as Skyrim would on a high end PC but the catch in that is that you need a high end pc, and I just no longer feel like wasting money on PC components anymore every 2 years or so.

If you're a hoarder like me, then the console versions can be very laggy since there is simply not enough memory onboard to properly deal with a large number of items in your inventory or inside a chest, container, etc. This can also have a big impact on loading times as well. If you fill your house with a ton of items for instance, loading times will shoot way up. The reason why this doesn't happen on a PC is because it has much more RAM (and thus it would take many many more items before lag sets in). Even a low-end PC these days will have at least 2-4 GB of RAM while the 360 only has 512MB shared and the PS3 has 256MB dedicated.

Just got back into Skyrim so I'm certainly looking forward to this :D

Ah well, by the time it comes to other platforms I probably won't care.

Looks like it's time for more Skyrim.

It's possible, they did put Shivering Isles for Oblivion out as a retail disc expansion in addition to download. If this addon is not significant enough to warrant that, you may have to wait for a GOTY type bundle later this year.

I'm confused though, how do you not have Xbox Live yet can still access the internet to post this? You aren't going to need a Gold subscription to purchase and download it.

Will buy. Might have to start a new character if this doesn't add a respec ability though. Kind of sucks but, hey, at least the game won't be as easy.

When has the PS3 ever had a good open world game? Its a inferior system.

Infamous, Prototype, GTA4, Red Dead Redemption, Saint's Row the Third, the Assassin's Creed series, Farcry 2, The Saboteur, all games that ran fine on the PS3.

Bethesda has been dragging out the same bugged out, dated engine for their games since Morrowind, updating it on an iterative basis with a few bells and whistles to impress the eye candy masses while at the same time dragging it down by not addressing core issues.

I personally would never buy a Bethesda open world game on anything but the PC, at least then you have a chance that when the developers don't fix the problems, the user community usually will.

All those games performed better on a 360 apart from infamous which was quite a small world anyway.
