Will be interesting to see what this looks like. No point in screaming and crying when all we know so far is that it is a thing being done.

it could be cool if it's actually an MMO and not just a 5-8 player multi-player game like all the other pretend MMOs out there.

Ah yes, I can see it all before me: Everyone trying desperately to jump their way over mountains in Skyrim. Arena survivors of Cyrodiil trying to escape the horde of adoring fans. Going by the leaks it looks like an elder scrolls game (second era!) but plays like MMOs have since EQ. Pretty much what I expected. Still playing the heck out of it when I get in. Still wishing Mass Effect got a first person shooter done.

Not interested. There are a lot of universes I wouldn't mind an MMO from, but the generic Fantasy setting of Skyrim is not one of them.

Hell yeah! A lot of times while playing Skyrim I'd wished for some kind of multiplayer mod that will allow me to explore the world and scale its snowy mountains with real life companions. 
 
This could just be the first MMO I get into.

1. Expansive single player

2. No day 1 dlc ripped out or shitty costumes/cheat codes for sale

3. No exclusive in game pre order bullshit

4. No online pass bullshit.

The actual lore is pretty unique. Cyrodil (in which Oblivion was set) was actually supposed to be a jungle with lush vegetation, and I believe the Imperial City floated above the ground or something bananas like that. In the land the wood elves come from the people live in gigantic migratory trees. Hopefully they actually stick to those descriptions when making the game and don't cop out like they have for some of the single player games.

My feelings exactly! Turning this incredible series into an mmo is horrible.

The position from Bethesda regarding an Elder Scrolls MMO years ago was "no, we make massive single player games and not multiplayer ones." Now we have this news. Pretty damn confusing and I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. Hopefully it doesn't cheapen the whole series for me.

How should we capitalize on our great game franchise? I KNOW! Lets make a game that's the exact opposite of everything we've done before! Plus it can be in a dying genre that no one worth a damn still cares about!

Hey they already have the broken ass and bland combat, that's one box checked in terms of MMO development. They'll have to tone down the rigidity of their terrain and remove all the natural critters/small environmental details in order to meet the lower system requirement bracket; there's the expansive barren environments MMO checkbox number two!

Oh boy, Zenimax, my heart is a flutter. I wonder how Todd Howard feels about this.

I have no time for Elder Scrolls MMO. Life is too short for that.

@Duke_of_IRL: I knew someone would question my comments about the Elder Scrolls Universe. For fantasy, I'm sure it's perfectly fine, but it's just not one that I especially care about or really brings anything new to the densely populated area.

Wait, I thought the MMO was supposed to be Fallout.

I hope the player level system is freeform in the same way as a normal elderscrolls game. Classes will break that world.

I would get behind this if it offered the same experiences as previous TES games with multiple companions, maybe instanced based when out of towns.

Too bad it'll just be another WoW clone, though.

I only started playing Elder Scrolls on Skyrim. No way am I ready for an MMO. I'd rather play remakes of all the other games.

Goddammit, the whole point of TES to me has always been that it's a single player MMORPG. I don't want to have to deal with other people.

If this is not in 1st person I will murder several kittens. The prospect of exploring the entire continent of Tamriel is amazing. However that all gets thrown out the window if they slap on a generic MMO template with 3rd person view.

They REALLY need to create something original beyond fucking dice rolls also.

They better keep making single player Elder Scrolls games.
