Xbox One Launch Pushed Back in Several Countries

And we're proud to announce the Xbox One will be launching worldwide this November.*

*Except large parts of Europe and Asia.

So, for developers doing Xbox One launch/window products, because there will be so many fewer sales.. what do publishers take religiously? Sales numbers. The first days, the first weeks, the first months are essential. Shit is going to happen.

Shit would have happened anyway with whatever reason there is for this shortage. This sucks, as happy as I am for Sony getting a godly freaking start, this really sucks.

Microsoft keeps making my decision easier and easier. I was already set on the PS4, but now I don't even have to choose anymore.

Not advocating this as Sony did the same shit last time around but aren't these the territories they originally were not going to ship in?

And here I was starting to reconsider getting xbone before PS4. Well, thanks Microsoft for choosing the PS4 for me.

I'm also now a bit startled about the possibility that they'll actually do what Ubisoft did and localize the hole f-ing dashboard to something else than English. I don't want my menus or games be in my native language that's just weird. Hated when AC3 made me lie my console location.

I wasn't gonna buy one anyway at launch, but I'm still kind of bummed out. I really hope we won't have to wait too long into 2014 until we get it. As soon as possible doesn't sound all that good coming from Microsoft at the moment. Would at least have wished they would specify which quarter we can expect it in.

What I want to know is how anybody can legitimately trust a company like this. They can't even make up their minds.

First there was always on DRM, that was scrapped. Then there was the Kinect always being on, that was scrapped. Then there was no self publishing for indie devs, that was scrapped. Then there was the Kinect always needing to be plugged in, that was scrapped. Now they can't even get straight the regions they want to sell their shitty system in. They really should have called this thing the 720 with the amount of fucking revolutions they're taking on their policies.

This does not instill customer faith in your brand. If anything it causes people to run to the hills to get the fuck away from the impending train wreck.

Never heard about the dev kit thing -nor does it matter to anyone but a select few- or it having DRM to begin with let alone it being removed. As for the self publishing, all I ever heard were people saying they don't believe it to be anything more than the terrible wasteland that was indies on the 360 and that no indie dev gives a damn about it.

I imagine importing a CONSOLE at launch is a bit pricey. More so for these folks now, I imagine. I know that if I were some UK-based online retailer, I'd jack the price up for importers from the effected countries.

At this point, who the hell cares?

Don't plan on buying either till next year or when things become more clear for both sides....still...a lot of fun watching Microsoft go fucking nuts almost daily.

I was expecting something like this, good thing I'm not getting one at launch else I'd be rather annoyed! Let's hope Sony doesn't do the same thing!

It's probably still going to take like 5 years for it to get to Poland. (That's the time it took for Poland to get Xbox Live for the 360)

I don't think the negativity is warranted except by those who expected and pre-ordered an Xbox One and now have to wait a lot longer. At the same time, they are getting a free game and it's not the end of the world if they miss the launch of the console as the real value lies in software coming later.

With that said, economically it only opens up further opportunities for Sony to gain headway in a market they already have a bit of an advantage in anyway. I bet whoever is responsible for this delay is probably hearing it right now.

Looks like they're sticking with EFIGS countries for launch. A shame for Xbox-gamers in the listed countries, considering most of them speak English rather well. I, and many other Dutchmen, prefer English for games anyway. Same goes for most Scandinavians. Belgians, I'd expect to either prefer English or French. And the Swiss, well... I don't know what's going on there, 'cause all three major languages of Switzerland (German, French and Italian) are covered.

Me, I don't mind. I'll continue to buy the Anything-But-The-Xbox. I'm thinking about getting a gaming PC some time this year and will get a PS4 and a Wii-U once they have a nice stack of good exclusives. I'm mostly playing 3DS and PSP lately, so I might even get a Vita before even thinking about an xbone.

My patience with MS is wearing thin...I was planning on getting both anyway, but MS is making real hard to be a loyal fan. They really need to learn to communicated better with their fan base. So, I second that "fuck you too MS"....

Christ, they've had years to prepare for the launch, and it seems like every month there's news on something changing.

Looks like I, as someone who lives in Switzerland, can no longer buy a console I had no plans to buy anyway. Makes my choice easier.

Legal issues in those countries regarding MS policies is probably more to blame here than localization, though both are valid reasons for a delay (and so is releasing in larger markets first).

Whatever, none of this matters. There are still a ton of questions around both consoles so it would be better to wait and see than buy either at launch.

Has Sony even given the launch markets for the PS4 yet? Both XONE and PS4 both won't be region locked so everyone saying I guess I'll just have to get a PS4 make no sense. Yeah it sucks that it won't launch there but there are other ways to get the system if you want it.

I've heard rumors of production delays and firmware problems with the One, perhaps this is the result of that.

They've made some great changes, but you really do only get to make one first impression, and I think E3 did irreparable damage that can only be fixed by producing a good system and most importantly, good games.

From what I understood, the xbone is region-locked based on IP address when you connect to update (and back when you were going to connect every 24 hours. You could potentially have a friend in the UK update it there for you, or set up a VPN to the UK, but you'd also have to convert your Finnish Xbox Live account to a UK based one, which I've read some nightmare stories about, and also continue to import all future games from there outside of region-free stuff you can get from play-asia.

I dunno, doesn't seem worth it to me.

if it gets delayed in the states, I'm going to call the Xbox One the worst console rollout ever.

They could publish a story about Xbox One not being programmed to kick you in the balls repeatedly, and I guess technically that's a positive thing considering the alternative, I wouldn't call it "good news" because that would put it in the same category as free ice cream.

They could give all the free ice cream in the world to indies and I doubt that would make them come back in droves and produce like they did earlier in the 360 cycle before they got kicked in the balls repeatedly with patch fees and other nonsense. So I guess that brings us back to our first point.

Remember when we thought it was strange for the CD-project RED guys to not be able to play Wicher 3 on Xbox One =),,,,, Oh yeahhh Battlefield 4 =) Hehe yeh it sucks now when the Xbox One seams like a better buy than when it was first shown but as many others had said I was and will be getting a PS4 first any way.

And by the time it arrives I probably don't have to buy a kinekt at all so you win some you lose some is what you say right.

And Remedy =) por Remedy with Quantum Break being at least a timed exclusive for Xbox One. It probably wont be out before Xbox One is released like Bf4 is definitely gonna be but still.

Logical, if they're short of time to finish localizing their console for the multi-5 languages. It's the least number of potential customers per language, even if Sony didn't already crush them in Europe.

I pre-ordered the PS4 before Microsoft did its 180 regarding the Xbox one.

Seeing that the Xbox one won't launch in 2013 here only confirms I made the right decision.

I feel sorry for my fellow Dutchies who were planning to get the Xbox one though.

Soooo they -won't have to sit around admiring their boxes muttering "...I wish I had something to play on this..." like other early adopters do?
