Heavy Rain doesn't even have any camera support, does it?
Augmented Reality
Concept »
Real world information improved in some way by the inclusion of computer generated data. Typically done using a virtual overlay on a real image.
Why is Heavy Rain on this list?
" because the guy with the fancy sunglasses "
so? that's not augmented reality at all... that's just future tech as envisioned in the game... should we attach all sci-fi games with future AR tech in them?
" I'm with vigorousjammer on this. That really seems like a stretch considering what the concept is actually meant to be referencing. "If the concept is supposed to be for AR games, then you're right. I don't see how someone could argue that those glasses don't fall under the umbrella of augmented reality though.
" @iAmJohn said:Augmented reality to the characters of the in-game universe, though, not to the player. I think that distinction needs to be made, and I think based on how the article is written, it's meant to be for things like Eyepet and Face Raiders. That definitely should be broken off into its own concept, though!" I'm with vigorousjammer on this. That really seems like a stretch considering what the concept is actually meant to be referencing. I say there should be a separate concept page down the line of "Augmented Game World." The two games I keep going back to are Heavy Rain and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories where some sort of augmented world is prominent to the storytelling and atmosphere of the game. There are more than a few games where characters use technology that parallels what we call augmented reality for storytelling and gameplay options, and I think it's viable for it's own concept page.

It's still real to him damn it
That's from the augmented reality page on GB.
That's what ARi does in the game.
If Scribblenauts is listed under headphones, I don't see why this is a problem.

Nahman's future glasses make holographs of objects appear and even magically analyze dna and displays it before his eyes(lol heavy rain)" @sixghost said:

I don't see how that's not AR.
EDIT: the concept should be expanded. I don't think making separate "ingame" and ""real-life" pages does anyone any good.
Also, I'm an idiot who shouldn't skim posts. sorry.
" @iAmJohn said:Because it's an in-game device that displays information strictly within the boundaries of the in-game universe. It is nothing akin to something like Face Raiders, where our reality is the one displayed through the camera lens and being augmented.@iAmJohn said:" I'm with vigorousjammer on this. " @Hailinel: Then I think the page should be expanded to fit examples like ARI as well. Or a new one should be made. Plenty of games have AR to the in-game characters themselves "Then it should be a new page of some sort, because this page is about AR as it exists in real life and not in fictional universes.
Wouldn't the Heavy Rain glasses fall under the Detective Mode concept?
"A newly-emerging feature in games that allows you to see objects and objectives more clearly than the game's regular vision allows."
Besides, it appears as though someone already removed Heavy Rain from the AR games list.
