    Baron of Hell

    Concept »

These baddies were originally the boss of the original Doom's first episode, but they would become normal enemies in Doom II.

    Short summary describing this concept.

    Overview

Tough as a dump truck and nearly as big, these Goliaths are the worst things on two legs since Tyrannosaurus rex.

-- Doom manual (this same description was used for Hell Knights in Doom II)

The Hell knight was bad news but this is Big Daddy. These bruisers are a lot like Hell knights, but look a little different and are twice as tough to kill.

Only below Cyberdemons and Spiderdemons in terms of strength, a Baron of Hell will scratch like an Imp when close and hurl green fireballs from a distance.

The Baron character first appears as a duo, as the end bosses, in Episode 1 (Knee-Deep in the Dead) of Doom. In the following Episodes, Doom II and later games, Barons appear more frequently as regular enemies.
