Damn forum errors.
Reposting,
@ repi You mentioned that the demo was powered by the GTX 580 card. SLI (2 or 3)? Debating on which GPU to settle on come fall.

@ themobsoftware only 1 geforce 580 card

Safe to assume a 580, coupled with a quadcore Possessor with 4-6GB of RAM would run this without issue. That being said, can we stop having the "ZOMG No one will be able to play without a SUPA COMPUTORZ!" I keep hearing on every website/podcast. You can build a rig that can play BF3 for less then the cost of your Macbooks, and would be more useful(Trolling not intended).
Battlefield 3
Game » consists of 15 releases. Released Oct 25, 2011
Battlefield 3 is DICE's third numerical installment in the Battlefield franchise. It features a single player and co-operative campaign, as well as an extensive multiplayer component.
GPU which ran GDC Tech Demo confirmed!
I don't understand why anyone would upgrade now considering BF3 isn't gonna be out until Q4 of this year. Save up your money for when the game actually comes out and you'll get a better system for a cheaper price.
" I don't understand why anyone would upgrade now considering BF3 isn't gonna be out until Q4 of this year. People with no patience, no ability to think and a no ability to analyze the situation. Velcro shoes will be top sellers in the near future.
" Shame a GTX 580 costs nearly as much as a PS3 and 360 combined. I'm sure my GTX 460 will handle it nicely, but unless the console versions are complete pants, I'll most likely be picking it up on 360. "It's blasphemy to compare a powerhouse PC to a Gaming Console. To be honest, people who build killer rigs usually don't just do it for gaming or for e-peen. I use mine to code, media center, surfing the web properly(duh). As well as a lot of other things. It's like comparing a Pickup truck to a Semi truck. they can both do similar things, but a totally different levels.
" So I have a Geforce 280 - what would be a good card to upgrade to before BF3 comes out (Nvidia only, ATI has always caused troubles for me) "Either a 560 Ti or 570 GTX if you want to stay Nvidia. I actually got an EVGA GTX 470 as a warranty replacement for my 285 which died so I'd happily recommend that too (easly 25% faster than my 285 was) but of the other cards are even faster and cooler to boot.

My MSi GTX 470 never goes above 65 degrees under load, I can't say the same for the GTX 570 and 580." @mosdl said:

If BF3 turns out to be really good I might do a slight upgrade, just the graphics card though I'm pretty confident my 4Ghz i5 is going to be more than up to the task!
Ugh I need a new processor first. My GTX 260 is getting pretty old, but it still holds up pretty damn well. However a dual core........sigh.
Are you blind? Look at the date of the tweets you linked to. This is old news. In fact I referenced that it was running on a single GTX 580 in this topic nearly 5 days ago. You made this topic yesterday." @Geno said:

I realize you are a new poster, but around here we don't like people to be stupid and rude.
"@Geno: Thanks for telling me the 1st time around. I searched and found nothing. Not to mention your post about it was an estimate, this is confirmation. Also seems like no one knew, so your welcome. "
easy there
Awesome, I'm building a PC soon and although I'm going a couple steps down from a 580, this means I should be able to play the game on medium settings smoothly at least (assuming that the graphical intensity doesn't get bumped up later, as this is pre-alpha footage and so there's probably less to render now than after more effects and textures get added in, etc.)
