So, who's buying on console?

With a lot of high tier, PC focused games coming out in the next few months, I've started having a bit of a battle with myself over what platform to get these games on (BF3, Skyrim mainly).

On the one hand I have a capable gaming PC and everyone seems to be saying that BF3 should only be considered on a PC. Part of me however, can't be bothered with the hassle of PC gaming, being hunched over a desk staring at a monitor. So whilst I understand BF3 (and other games) will be technically superior on PC, I can't help but think the overall experience and immersion factor will be much greater with my comfy seat, big screen, quality audio and hassle free system console.

Has anyone else had this same thought? What was your decision?

I'm getting it on 360.

But that's because I only have a work laptop.

I'm not! : )

#4 Posted by Redbullet685 (6054 posts) -

Probably 360 if I can get my 360 to recognize my IP address.

#5 Posted by rawrsair (821 posts) -

I'll probably get it on PS3

#6 Posted by theguy (796 posts) -

Definitely PC for both of those. BF3 for the increased player count, graphics and controls and Skyrim for graphics and mods.

If my computer could run battlefield with the graphics I wish it would I would buy it for that. But since I would have to run it on low and I am still very poor with mouse and keyboard first person controls I'll probably just buy it for Xbox.

I haven't decided whether to get it on PC or PS3.  I'm waiting for release so I can make a more informed decision.

You say you have a capable gaming PC? then you must have a TV card installed.
Hook your PC up to your TV, sit back in your couch, connect your Xbox controller to the PC and play like you're playing a console, only the game will look better, run better and support 64 players. Great Sucess!

Don't forget that we're gonna be having 64 player bombing runs twice a week (i'm considering buying a BF3 Giant Bomb server. Already working on organizing the events), so you don't wanna miss out on that.

360. Where all my squadmates are so....

plus controller comfort zone.

#11 Posted by Skytylz (4033 posts) -

I have a computer that can run it now and unfortunately I won't have my 360 with me for a while since I'm leaving it with my brother :(

#12 Posted by SSValis (1136 posts) -

360 of course, because I don't think my laptop would do it justice.

#13 Posted by CandiBunni (465 posts) -

If I do purchase it, it will be for the PS3.

#14 Posted by swamplord666 (1762 posts) -

nah i'm buying the most expensive edition: "Battlefield 3: New Rig edition"

#15 Posted by MrKlorox (11209 posts) -

All those things you exclude as being possible with the PC version are of course going to be possible with the PC version. But really, this is not a "lean back" type of game.

#16 Posted by darkwingduck (175 posts) -

ill get it on 360.
that is , of course, if it matches the high expectations

Not everyone can do this you know....

At this point I'm only moderately enthusiastic for BF3, I'll get it on console if I'm at BestBuy one day and have nothing to buy (which I doubt, have you seen the fall lineup??)
#18 Posted by Mahonay (829 posts) -

I'll be getting it on the 360. I don't have a PC that would run it decently and the friends I'll be playing with all predominantly game on the 360. Easy decision for me.

360 most likely. I can most likely run it on this PC, but I will have to turn down the settings a bit.

#21 Posted by Three0neFive (2297 posts) -

Getting the PC version for serious play, PS3 version to dick around with friends/grief.

#22 Posted by EpicBenjamin (627 posts) -

Yeah, I can read. But Have you thought that maybe his PC is in one room and TV in another? Maybe his mom doesn't want  a PC or cables running through the living room?
#24 Posted by laserbolts (5331 posts) -

360 for sure. I can't afford to invest in a gaming rig right now.

#25 Edited by mclakers (125 posts) -

I bought BF:BC2 on 360, but BF3 is definitely on PC, even if it brakes my rig. I just want to see the how beautiful iT WILL look.
I7 930 O.C 3.8ghz
hopefully i could run it.
GTX 465
128gig SSD

PC. 64 player conquest all the way.

#36 Posted by Irvandus (2881 posts) -

My Pc is the equivalent of having two rocks taped together and then I imagine what's going on so uh Xbox.

#37 Posted by Wuddel (2098 posts) -

PS3 at first. Although, I got a PC that exceeds recommended spec. For PC later maybe, but only if it will show up on steam after all (so probably never). Just like shooters on consoles better. PCs are IMHO for more complicated games. +TV +armchair +nice sound system

Skyrim will gon on PC though.

im getting it on the PS3.  i just own a laptop that i use for music and school

#39 Posted by Klei (1768 posts) -

PC. I know its super odd, but i'm so fed up with being bothered by my ''xboxlive friends'' when I play games. So now, i'll be an elitist and play  this game maxed out to the stars. Alone. With the one or two people I know that can run this game on high. That way : nokids.

I'll get MW3 for the 360 though, this game is running on an old Quake 3 engine, so who cares what platform you play it on ; it's still bellow average everything on the market today, so I don't mind running it on my console.

You could just buy a better chair for playing at your PC. I've got a nice desk and chair and it's super comfortable playing at my PC. As for staring at a monitor, well, I assume you don't play on a TV with your eyes closed? I don't get that part. The myth that it's uncomfortable or inconvenient to play on a PC is wrong.

#41 Posted by big_jon (5743 posts) -

I is.

#42 Posted by Riddell (342 posts) -

OK thanks for the responses guys, let me clear a few things up:

Hooking my PC up to my TV, whilst an elegant solution, is not practical given the fact that I'm not the only person that uses the PC.

@sharkeh: What I mean is that my TV is a lot bigger than my PC monitor, meaning I can sit back and relax. The same can't be said for a PC monitor.

+1

PC gaming actually feels sexy
#44 Posted by MordeaniisChaos (5730 posts) -

@blacklabeldomm: It's super easy. If you can play BF3 and your card doesn't support something that can easily be passed through to a modern TV, your using a crazy weird card. Juat hook it up to your PC, use a gamepad. It's crazy easy, and if you don't like playing games on your pc like that, then boom. It probably wouldn't even be that pricey to keep your pc where it is and run a second line to your TV.

#45 Posted by pornstorestiffi (4936 posts) -

Probably PC version so i can get some of that visual splender. But on the otherhand i will have close friends who will be playing it on PS3, so i'm kind of torn on that. I played BC2 on PS3. I got BC2 for PC also but after playing it for that long on PS3 the PC version just felt awkward to me, the running felt weird and having to hold down the crouch button was annoying as hell.

There could have been an option to toggle crouch on and off, but i never bothered looking.

PS3, I don't have a high-end PC(and the one I'm using can't even use Directx9, and has only 256 MB of RAM memory!)

#47 Posted by I_smell (3924 posts) -

Definately Xbox. I don't even know what a graphics card looks like n god knows I'm not spending £200 on one!

#48 Posted by ze_ro (181 posts) -

Need to buy a new PC because of this, but I'm also getting it for PS3.

#49 Posted by Yanngc33 (4496 posts) -

I'll be getting a PS3 version for university and a 360 version for home. If only this thing was coming out on Steam and I had a powerful enough computer
#50 Posted by Illmatic (1358 posts) -

360. No way my comp will be able to handle that game online.
