this is probably just my retarded look on things, but i think that the beta multiplayer looks kind of like counter strike in a small way. like theres different classes, and the way the characters move is kind of similar. im not saying they ripped CS off at all, just making a simple observation
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Game » consists of 26 releases. Released Mar 02, 2010
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is the second installment in this spin-off Battlefield series. It has a more serious campaign and a vastly expanded multiplayer system.
Beta looks similar to....
I thought you were going to say Modern Warfare for a second. I would have agreed. It's got a bit of MW formula in it and I think it's awesome. Take what worked well in another game and make it better by adding more things exploding.
It did have the little save spot so you weren't rushing to get all your weapons when the round started, maybe that's what he meant...but it's not really like classes..
"Is there a no vehicles mode in Battlefield at all? That quick look showed me everything I hate about that game. Spawn Look around Get owned by a tank Spawn Looks around Get owned by a helicopter Wash. Rinse. Repeat. Eject. It would be seriously awesome if not for the vehicles. "
Jeff also refused to switch his class and fire an RPG at the tank to end everyones problems, or just hop in a tank himself.
Jeff really is one of the worst BF players ever, don't judge it by him.
For one it dosnt have gltichey hitboxes and a ak47 cant kill someone from cross the map with one bullet . I played way to much CS in the past .
as for the topic question, I was definitely thinking more MW2, with the classes, the SCAR that Jeff was using, and the graphics, it seemed a lot like MW2 with vehicles (although i know that Battlefield has been doing the classes thing for a long time).
I also like the destructible environments thing, I think that it is something that should be implemented more in shooters. It just adds a lot more depth to the gameplay.
I think it looks like Tetris.
I don't think they should have weapons in a game that is a spiritual successor to Tetris. No wonder I keep getting killed when I spawn. This game is broken.
I noticed that this sentiment is shared by cheapoz. I think we should petition DICE to make a Battlefield game without weapons so that we can both win and stuff.
Ive been playing cs for about a decade, and played about 30hrs of this Beta....
I found some similarities in the two, but none that I would say are exclusive to only these two games. The second part of the map which is the urban area does have a few spots that could be straight out of dust2 in the way that you can play them, but I think that's more the CS player in me coming out in a different game. Some areas of the map do kind of have that grainy middle eastern vibe that is prevalent in cs, but I think its more of a coincidence than by design.
Actually now that I think about it, I hope when this game ships I see a lot of counter-strike influence, maybe then I can finally stop playing that fucking game.
To me, BF is more like TF-meets-CS (with other additional elements such as vehicles and the wide open spaces to make them viable). I used to be a hardcore TFC player and began hating CS when it practically stole the TF community. I wanted to get into CS but I felt like I was betraying TFC (I was a weird kid). Once I found Battlefield at BF2, I was forever converted.
MW series feels more like a super refined CS-meets-Quake.
Counter Strike is just about as far as you can get from Bad Company 2. I know everybody else has already made it clear, but:
- Counter Strike has no respawning
- Counter Strike has no classes
- Bad Company 2 doesn't have you buying stuff at the beginning of rounds
- The movement in Bad Company 2 is fluid, whereas it is stiff and made to not be distracting in Counter Strike
- There are no vehicles in Counter Strike
- The maps are much smaller in Counter Strike than in Bad Company
- There is no regenerating health in Counter Strike
- etc.
