BF:BC 2 - NDA Drops Today 9am PST
A really really difficult question. The perk system is immense and you unlock more as you go. From what I've seen there are no stupid perks like in CoD4, they all have a purpose to fit your playing style. All perks and unlocks are mostly tailored for your class though.
Each class has 6 tweaks. Primary weapon, secondary weapon, additional weapon, soldier perk1, soldier perk 2, vehicle perk. Then there is also class gadget that is not changeable.
Primary weapon is mainly class specific, Sniper rifle for Recons, LMG for Medic, SMGs for Engineer, assault rifles for Assault. Shotgun goes to more than one class though.
Secondary weapon, mainly pistols, as well as tracer gun for Engineer.
Additional weapon included C4 and mortar strike (air strike?) for snipers, C4 and grenade launchers for Assault, mines and RPGs for Engineer, and for Medic? I didn't check that one properly, Symonator did though. I guess defib, I was revived few times and it felt fantastic! You don't see lalalalalavived you though as you're facing opposite direction when are getting up for some reason. A bit unfair. But then you have to run for cover because if you don't you're brown bread again and possibly your Medic mate too
Perk 1 usually the weapon perk, like red dot scope or more ammo carrying or more hand grenades, better accuracy. Perk 2 is soldier perk, more health, become lighter and faster etc.
Vehicle perks I've seen were better armour, sensor radar, some other undefined perk that didn't have a name yet. The extra armour really worked though on my heavy. It could withstand many rockets providing you jump out and keep repairing it. But UAV can destroy a heavy tank with 1 hit. I think you call AC-130 for a missile strike(don't panic it is nicely balanced with long reloads) .
Non selectable gadget is also class specific. Drill for the Engineer, medpack for medic, ammo for assault, I suppose sensor for Recon, because it wasn't selectable on the screen but it was shown as unlocked. Didn't play Recon sorry.
As for vehicles, UAV was my favourite I can see a lot of TKs over it, but Friendly Fire was completely off, which was rather disappointing.
One thing I have to say is that Extra Ammo carrying perk is also available to Assault which kinda irrelevant as you can dish ammo packs anyway by default. I guess this all will be tweaked more after the BETA.

" I am worried about my support class though they killed it... "
Don't be. The medic is essentially the support class. Primary weapon: LMG. Med kits. Defib. Don't know about other gadgets though. I heard, the sniper gets the mortar strike. Probably the medic will be able to equip it too.
There is so much kit customization going on in BF:BC 2, you'll definitly be able to build something along the lines of BF:BC 1s support guy. For example, the specialist kit doesn't exist anymore as a separate kit, but you can chose its loadout for the recon kit. Silenced submachine gun as primary weapon, tracer dart gun as secondary weapon, C4 as gadget, exactly the same loadout as the specialist kit had in BF:BC 1)
4 kits (classes)
- Assault
- Medic
- Recon
- Engineer
6 customizable aspects for each kit
- primary weapon (silenced smg, lmg, assault rifle, sniper rifle and shotguns - available choices depend on kit)
- secondary weapon (a selection of handguns and the tracer dart gun - open to all kits)
- gadget (mortar strike, repair tool, ammo box, bandages, defibrilator, C4, anti-vehicle mines - available choices depend on kit)
- offensive soldier perk (like red dot sight, steady aim etc.)
- defensive soldier perk (like lighter body armor for quicker movement or heavier body armor for better protection etc.)
- vehicle perk (like supreme firepower for extra weapons, extra armor or motion sensors etc.)
As of now, we don't know yet, which options each kit has in terms of customizing its loadout, but it's definitly quite open. A recon kit soldier can be a longrange sniper or a ninja-style specialist for example. Definitly something I'm looking forward to hearing more specific informations about. Also, there are lots of specializations (perks), we have yet to hear about. Same goes for gadgets.
Take all of this info with a grain of salt - I haven't had any hands-on time with BF:BC 2 yet. It's just what I've read thus far in the official UK forums.
- Spawn killing in Rush mode seems to be out. Defenders spawn in a no-go zone (for the attackers). Sweet.
- On top of that, there will be a 1.6sec long spawnshield, during which the players are immune to all damage.
- Also - the UAV seems to be able to trigger an AC-130 airstrike on a long cooldown timer. Pull the trigger, AC-130 will either confirm or deny the attack, if AC-130 confirms, keep your crosshair on your target for a couple of seconds and BOOM.
- Bullet-Dmg at the moment is about 3 bullets to the body to kill. TTK (Time To Kill) is a lot quicker, than in the first game.
I hope to have some more infos to share soon.

Gordon is on BASH to talk to us about all the awesome tech going into his new baby, BFBC2.
This is a wide-ranging interview and we cover a lot of ground. With me to help cover that ground with Gordon (aka "Lex Luthor") is BASH regular, Garetjax from codtv.tv.
Among the interesting personal facts that Gordon drops our way is that he was a former competitive player (hence the "Lex Luthor" tags), but get this...he was also a PC modder. And his mods are the reason he got to work at DICE. I'm sure his street cred with our community just shot straight up, huh?
Of course we asked about BFBC2 as well.
- We go into depth on the Frostbite gaming engine.
- We talk about the possibilities of modding the game.
- We talk about the potential for competitive BFBC2 play.
- We of course talk about the fact that BFBC2 will have dedicated servers.
- The PC beta is also discussed.
Thanks to all the folks who helped make this cast happen: Gordon at DICE, Matt Pruitt, Jino T. and Kelly E. at EA. Thanks guys.
Forgive me honestly sepp for previous comments a while ago. I am kinda eating my words at this point, because I went from zero interest in this game, because literally I have seen nothing from it, and thinking MW2 was going to be a mile better than it. Now, Im thinking far far less of MW2 with all the bullshit going on, and extremely interested in BC2. Glad you keep everyone up to date here. Cant wait to play the PC beta.
I still dont know much, and really am not seeing a lot of gameplay either way..but my interest level has gone up 10 fold, especially when I saw their comment about really putting some good effort into the PC version of the game.
edit- Wow..the IGN guy who did that report honestly is terrible at doing them.
According to GvD (in the Bash 'n Slash Podcast), the two, yet to be announced squad-based multiplayer modes will be COMPETITIVE, not co-op.
They are aimed at the competitive e-sports crowd. Lower playercount, small maps, very fast paced gameplay (I assume). Looking forward to hearing more about them.
Just read, that the basic gadget is additional to unlock gadget. So each class will have 2 gadgets available at any given time.
- Assault = Ammo Box & Unlock Gadget
- Engineer = Repair Tool & Unlock Gadget
- Medic = Health Pack/Defib (not sure which) & Unlock Gadget
- Recon = Unkown & Unlock Gadget
Wow - the kits will all be a lot more powerful this time around... like the recon kit with the mortar strike device and so forth. Insane. Hope EA DICE nails the balance.

This is good news.
KMT is the head honcho producer.
GvD is a member of team though. Executive producer or something like that.
They got 2 teams working on the game. One for the singleplayer campaign and one for the multiplayer campaign.
Must be a 100+ people working on it right now.
I guess 'producer' is another word for 'gamedesigner' or 'shot-caller', of which there seems to be a handful.
