I 'am truly surprised by how much fun the multiplayer in Bioshock is. They have an awesome set up where you have your own apartment where you choose your weapon and plasmid loadout then you can customize some parts on your character. I 'am guessing you get more weapons, plasmids and items as you rank up. The ranking system is a bit like Modern Warfare how it awards you with bonus points for assists, kills, and points afterwards. The controls are a bit different from tradition shooters, it actually reminds me of Fallout. But overall its a lot of fun just to mess around with.

I was kinda thinking of trying it, do the plasmids make it feel totally over the top and nuts?

    Heard it's a blast.

I'm looking forward to trying out the water gush/grenade launcher combo I've heard of. Blasting someone in the air with a jet of water and then blowing them up with a grenade sounds fantastic.

@Mariek430: It gets kinda crazy, I 'am only rank 2 so I don't have too many plasmids.

I was one of the few to think it was going to be pretty fun, glad my expectations sound to be right.

I was one of those few also. The weaponry was always going to be fun in MP.

Something else I found out thats cool, they have these things called trials which are like challenges from MW2. It all stuff like get 30 electro bolt kills, get 30 shotgun kills and whatnot. It seems to be getter better the higher the rank.

Just picked it up at my local midnight launch and I think I'm about to meet up with Tennenbaum face to face for the first time. With all the multiplayer features/progression and the weighty feel of the combat I can definitely see this game filling the void that Modern Warfare 2 would fill were I not so poor... but it's 4AM and I need some sleep... Time will tell once I get a good 6 hours of sleep so I can fire it back up again! Happy hunting!

I'm glad to hear that Digital Extremes is getting some respect on this one. If I remember correctly DE made the maps for Unreal Tournament.

You are right. I was one of those who got very pissed off when I heard there would be multiplayer, and said that it was not nessecary. I am glad to say that all those concerns are now gone. The multiplayer is awesome.

As long as the controls are the same as Bioshock 1, it should be fine.

Its the same controls, what I meant by different is that melee is B, look down the sights is right stick in, left trigger is plasmid  stuff like that.

It's a bunch of fun...absolutely insane and hectic... I have a couple of issues with getting stuck in the scenery, freezing and   ive seen some weird stuff happening with seemingly invincible pistol users but it has been really fun so far...

if it didn't freeze up every half an hour it would be awesomer.

Oh, okay.... so long as the movement/shooting doesn't feel like Fallout 3.  That game was terrible in that sense; most unfun action ever.

I really hope the guys do a quick look of the multiplayer. I'd really like to see it in action before I go get the game. Never thought my interest in a bioshock game would fall towards the multiplayer...

I heard the multiplayer was crap. I guess I'll have to try it out for myself and see.

I will say that Bioshock 2's multiplayer is probably the worst I've ever played. The guns are mad underpowered, the movement is janky, and the accuracy is way off (the shotgun has no spread at all). Is anyone else with me? Seriously, if you're thinking about getting Bioshock 2, buy it solely for the single player.

Yep, that's all I needed to know as to whether or not the multiplayer is worth it.  I hate that...

It's nuts. I love that it doesn't take itself too seriously. Just a bunch of lunatics running around with electricity and fire shooting out of their bodies. Perfect.

I only played one match, but I found it really fun. The whole concept around it is cool and it seems pretty deep with the combinations of loadouts you can create.
