The third game in the BioShock series leaves the bottom of the sea behind for an entirely new setting - the floating city of Columbia, circa 1912. Come to retrieve a girl named Elizabeth, ex-detective Booker DeWitt finds more in store for him there than he could ever imagine.
Anyone else excitedly optimistic?
Never played the other Bioshock games, but it's looking as if that's going to change. The 10 minute preview was amazing.
I think the first one excelled in story and atmosphere but not in gameplay.
I think the second improved the gameplay drastically but a lot of the atmosphere and amazing story telling seemed to get lost while they tried to improve the combat.
So I'm just hoping that even if Infinite isn't an A grade title, that it at least finds a blend between what BioShock did well and what BioShock 2 did well without adding new problems - then I'll be happy.

The first Bioshock was overrated imo... After seeing the 10 min demo of Infinite I got excited and I hope it ends up better than the original. The first Bioshock was still pretty good.
First... thread-necro lol
Second... yes, it was pretty good. Overrated doesn't mean bad.
Very excited for this game. The fact that they delayed it and that it has been in the works for so long leaves me very optimistic. Next year cant come soon enough.
Has it really been 2 years since the 10 minute video was released? I am still excited. I already have the game preordered.
Bioshock was definitely one of my favorite experiences of... wait I was just gonna say "last gen"... well it has been a while. Anyway one of my favorite experiences of the last while in games, it was a real high point, I couldn't have picked a better game to get my 360 with back in 07.
So with that in mind, yeah I'm really, really excited for this game. I avoided Bioshock 2 since it wasn't Irrational making it, but I do own it... wonder if it's worth it at this point with Infinite around the corner.
I'm not excited but definitely interested. I'll wait until close to release before I get excited for this game at this point.

Bioshock, the original, was amazing. It was awesome. But I didn't need a new Bioshock. I really didn't. Bioshock 2 didn't do anything for me. I was almost going to write off Bioshock: Infinite as a dumb marketing move. But shit, after watching the footage and watching the entire interview with Ken Levine, I'm on board. They know what they're doing and I'm ready for Bioshock to grow them wings.
You have to keep in mind that Biocshock 2 wasn't developed by the original company. The first Bioshock was made by Irrational Games, while the second was by 2K. This one is once again in Irrational Games's hands, so I have no worries. Everything I've seen looks amazing and brings a new feel to the franchise in a (hopefully) positive way.
Despite some gameplay issues (gunplay felt sort of "sluggish"), I loved the world the first bioshock was set in. It seems like they have went out of their way to craft another unique world that will keep me interested even if the gameplay has problems. The worlds fair part reminds a bit of Ultima: Martian Dreams, so that gets me interested too.
