That's no surprise. They had Tenacious D one year which was alright. This is just a step up (or down, depending on your feelings of Metallica- my view is modern day Metallica is a step down).

The quality of current Metallica's music aside they are a great garage band show demonstrated in the Antarctica show they did last year.

@unclebenny: Because it's loads of fun. My wow guild uses it to meet up every year, get shitfaced and goof off. The cosplay stuff, panels and sc2/hearthstone tourneys are big draws for other folks too.

Plus there's nothing more exciting than being in a room with people who will be just as hyped as you when they announce something big or talk about deep changes to content.

When I was into Blizzard stuff it was pretty fun, but I also had the excuse of living close enough to Anaheim to make it pretty cheap. I can't really imagine spending all that much to travel there though. It really is nothing like a standard convention though, it feels more like a giant carnival with all the booths and prizes going on, and a number of people would sell some of the included goodies on eBay to recoup ticket costs.

Speaking of concerts though I will never forget when they had Tenacious D and Ozzy when I went - it was probably some of the weirdest things I've ever seen. There was a small crowd of 20-30 or so up near the stage and everyone else was seated or not caring. I think the band gave up at some point too, because the crowd was just completely disinterested in them. If you've ever been to a real concert you can basically imagine that with a fraction of the energy you'd see from a pumped up crowd.

Rock n Roll Racing MMO confirmed on the main stage! Clearly, this was the reason why Titan was cancelled and everyone got moved to this new project. Open world MMO where you drive around in a Mad Max-style PvP combat, while earning points by destroying other players' cars.

When I was way into Metallica I would have also been into massive fucking pauldrons that I can swag around Orgrimmar in so this seems apropos.

I saw Metallica 5 years ago and thought it was a great show (granted they are one of my favorite bands and it was my first concert ever) but they stuck to playing songs mostly from Death Magneticand a few from their first 4 albums (and Enter Sandman because of course they have to play that)

I'd totally be pumped to seeing them again if I could go.

Personal nerd.overkill. Too much, just too much. Metallica in Hamburg this year was incredible.

I saw them back in the 90's when they were doing a tour for the Black Album. By far and away the best concert I have ever been to. I am curious as to how they sound now but am afraid that they may be a shell of their former selves.

Man, it sure is "cool" to hate Metallica.

I am not going to sit here and pretend their more recent albums are good, but they essentially created thrash metal, and all their albums up to and including Justice are classics.

Everything after that though? Who cares.
