So, after several hours of playing the Blur beta, I couldn't figure out why nothing had blown up and changed the track. Please tell me I'm not the only person who gets these games confused with each other (in terms of power-up stuff).

Worth noting that I really like the Blur beta though. Anyone interested in playing Blur (not Split/Second) should check it out.

Maybe it's because they're both action racing games? Is that what we're calling them?

I wasn't even aware of Split/Second until after I had downloaded the Blur beta, so I would say no. But I do agree that Blur is looking to be a really fun game. And that comes from someone who has not played a racing game with any sort of attention since Mario Kart 64.

I think it's because their basic premise is the same, multiplayer racing with a splash of explosive flavor. It's the inFAMOUS/Prototype thing.

I love Blur and have fun time playing it but I really don't think I 'am going to try Split/Second. This might sound weird but I have no interest playing a game made by Disney Interactive and secondly the games whole premise looks utterly moronic to me. Racing with the city used a weapon to knock out other players? I might as well as play stuntman if I wanted something with cars and explosions.

Blur and Split/Second are the Infamous and Prototypes of 2010. That having been said, I've played and really enjoyed the Blur demo, but haven't touched the Split/Second stuff.

I like the Blur demo better after playing the demo for Split/Second (didn't help it was just 1 track, 1 car, and no online in the demo).

@Pathogenocide: Dude, you're missing out. I didn't realize until you mentioned Disney, but this is developed by Blackrock, who made Pure, which is a really fun ATV off-road racer.  Note I haven't tried the Split/Second demo yet, so maybe they used up all their awesome in the last game, but I think you should at least give it a try.

Having played both the Blur beta and the Split/Second demo, I've decided to get Blur. Just didn't warm up to Slit/Second's Powerplay mechanic, which falls kinda flat. Not enough skill, timing and tactics involved and the whole thing just doesn't really feel like 'combat' racing. All flash, no substance. Just can't touch the 20 player racers and well-balanced powerups of Blur. No way.

Nah - I never confused Blur for Split/Second. I'm just confused about Blur getting less hype and attention. Bizarre Creations are just sooo good at creating fun and addictive and stylish games - anybody who's gotten a version of Geometry Wars should know that by heart. It should be like: 'Listen up! Bizarre Creations makes Mario Kart. Only waaay better!'.

Oh man, I reaalllyy hope Yahtzee (Zero Punctuation) makes the two developers do the same thing (or at least similar) to what he had the inFamous/Prototype developers do...

Still haven't downloaded either of these demos/betas... been too busy to remember to look at the demo page lately, even though I know there's some there I want to play.

Obviously I can't comment on the entire games, but here are the pros and cons of both demos that are on xbl.

    Blur:
Multiplayer, 6 tracks, ranking up, unlocking cars, different game-modes, multiplayer!

    Split/Second
Not multiplayer, 1 track, no ranking up or unlocking cars

So in terms of demos, Blur's is a lot more fun, I played one round of split/second and couldn't get into it because of the AI opponents.

The Blur BETA was significantly stronger than the Split/Second demo and I thought it was overall better game.
