Why Don't These Sell Better?
The original Boom Blox was a critical darling, but not a sales powerhouse. Which is a shame as it is the best Wii game not called Mario Galaxy. The physics based gameplay was quite well executed and the cute visuals are family friendly while the gameplay is really quite complex and challenging.
So, the question was begged when this game was announced: What can they add?
Well, they have added something truly amazing: online level sharing.
That, alone, makes this game significantly better.
I am also quite fond of the improved controls, where you don't have to be as insanely careful with your aim. You still have to have precision, but it does not have to be as spot-on nearly perfect.
The selection of mini-games to play are impressive, with you being required to play, well, quite different game styles to advance. I, personally, adored the paint ball, which ends up turning Boom Blox into a match-3 puzzle game. I can't pull off the grabber mechanism where you have to carefully remove blocks off of a set-up without knocking over other blocks nearby. Slingshotting blocks into other blocks is an absolute blast.
There is nothing I can say negative about the game. As playable a game as exists on any console.
