HEY BRAD!!!

#1 Posted by audiosnag (1604 posts) -

I know Civ V has stolen you away from your first love but...could we get more Starcraft 2 in the Bombcast? Please?
Or hey i had an idea, a separate podcast with you and Brian Lahey from Shacknews discussing SC2 related stuff (I remember seeing him on your friends list during your video blog) he's good...you're good. It makes sense.
I'd listen to that. I'd listen to that HARD.

#2 Posted by pwnasaurus (1286 posts) -

no, no more starcraft, starcraft is terrible.

#3 Posted by audiosnag (1604 posts) -

Begone from this thread blasphemer.
Your kind is not wanted >:(

#4 Edited by President_Barackbar (3448 posts) -

Right, because that was the best part of the Bombcast, the hour or so dedicated to ONE GAME (and I don't even play Starcraft).

#5 Posted by FreakAche (2951 posts) -

I like Starcraft and all, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone who wants more Starcraft talk on the Bombcast anytime soon.

#6 Posted by BunkerBuster (1042 posts) -

I love StarCraft 2 as much as anyone but I  hate to have to listen to them talk about shit they already talked about...again.

It sounds to me like you just need to go play the game a little more.

I already can't wait for the GOTY discussion Bombcast.  The PC GOTY debate between Starcraft II and Civ V alone could take up an entire hour.

#8 Posted by Crescendo1897 (114 posts) -
@pwnasaurus: agree
#9 Posted by InfamousBIG (3200 posts) -

Starcraft 2 is good, but that shit is done
Talking bout Civ V?  More fun.

#10 Posted by audiosnag (1604 posts) -

Meh.
I likes me some Starcraft an i like listening to people better then me talking about it.
That's why the separate podcast would be cool. Not gonna happen but i still think its a good idea.
@BunkerBuster:
I play it plenty, trust me.

#11 Posted by pwnasaurus (1286 posts) -
@adoggz: yea because an overpriced RTS from long ago with a few new units and maps and one campaign is great right? wrong.
#12 Posted by audiosnag (1604 posts) -
@pwnasaurus:
Oh god. You're one of those.

I agree.
#14 Posted by pwnasaurus (1286 posts) -
@audiosnag: no actually i have played it, it isn't that different and anyways they stole the entire idea for the universe of starcraft from Dawn of war zerg are just tyranids protoss are just eldar and terrans are just space marines. for real.
#15 Posted by CL60 (16906 posts) -

I don't like RTS's, and I don't want them to talk about an RTS constantly every single bombcast.

#16 Posted by audiosnag (1604 posts) -
@pwnasaurus:
It's pretty heavily influenced by Dawn of War i'm not gonna deny that but to say it's the same game with a few new units and one campaign is pretty dumb.
The mechanics are very similar but why would a fan of the original game want that changed? I don't get this expectation people have that a sequel needs to be drastically different. If you totally overhaul the game you might as well make a new game.
There's a reason the original is still as popular today as it is and why 2 is as huge as it is. If you're not in to the game that's cool but your opinion is just that. Yours.
#17 Posted by aurahack (2270 posts) -

Fuck all of you, Brad mentioned Homeworld 2 on one podcast and hasn't said anything about since. I demand a 2-hour Homeworld 2 Bombcast.

That being said, no. No more Starcraft talk. ... Maybe a bit more Civ 5, though.

Not really.  It'll be Civ V.  Ryan is completely dismissive of SC2 while Brad rather likes Civ V.
#19 Posted by pwnasaurus (1286 posts) -
@audiosnag: and so is yours a large majority of bombcast listeners don't play starcraft 2 and don't want to hear about it. neither do i.
#20 Posted by audiosnag (1604 posts) -
@pwnasaurus:
Chill dude, it was a silly thread. I'm pretty sure the guys aren't actually going to add anything in the Bombcast because i suggest it.
Maybe try not to get so butt hurt? Might be a good idea?
#21 Posted by pwnasaurus (1286 posts) -
@audiosnag: say butt hurt more? what are you 12?

Dawn of War was released far after the 1st Starcraft. Starcraft is an EXTREMELY direct homage to the Warhammer 40k universe, but Dawn of War (which is based on the Warhammer 40k universe) was released a long time after Starcraft was.

@jukezypoo: table top game? yea way before starcraft was even an idea. well what i meant to say was DOW the game is based right off the table top so what i was trying to say is the dawn of war universe existed long before starcraft did :)

You don't control Brad.  Brad does whatever he fucking wants to.

#25 Posted by audiosnag (1604 posts) -
@pwnasaurus:
Ouch. Insinuating I'm young due to a previous comment. That hurts man.
Ok let me try again.
Perhaps you should relax, the thread I posted was meant to be humorous in nature. I surely didn't expect a change to the Bombcast due only to my suggestion.
In the future might i suggest you approach such threads with a less serious attitude?
Is that better? Did that meet your expectations of what a mature person posts on the internet? I really do hope so.

I wouldn't dream of trying. He's a wild stallion that can't be tamed.

I'm so glad. I am gonna go back to butt hurt though for the sake of expediency. You understand i'm sure.

I hope they bring up starcraft again. It will probably get talked about again when the next update comes out.

#33 Posted by audiosnag (1604 posts) -
@pwnasaurus:
That's good enough for my purposes.
#34 Posted by Portis (1286 posts) -

While I've never played Civilization IV, nor Starcraft 2 -- I personally would rather hear Civ IV discussion. I don't mind hearing about Starcraft 2, but there is something about Civ IV stories that are familiar (familiar in a, "oh damn Abe Lincoln you so crazy" kind of way) and interesting. Either way, they can talk about whatever they want and I'll still enjoy it.

Have a good one.

Starcraft II is a good game and I understand why people get very deeply involved in that game but we've done Starcraft II, the Giant Bomb staff have the ability to present us with something fresh and new and I'd like to once again hear them do it.

Yup, just wanted to make it clear that while Starcraft is pretty obviously based on the Warhammer 40k universe, its game-play mechanics were in no way influenced by Dawn of War. I've heard people make the mistake before, is all.
#38 Posted by B0nd07 (1699 posts) -

Starcraft 2 has been covered to death on the podcast since its release (and even a little before).  I was more interested in their at length discussion on Reach the other week, and I'm not even a big Halo fan.  Hell, I was more interested in their nearly hour-long arcade machine discussion after L.A. Extreme.  It's fine that you like SC2, but the majority of the community is tired of it being a major topic.  If they want to cover patch notes in the news section or get a status update on Brad's ranking, fine; but it should stay at that.

I miss when they used to do a podcast dedicated to one big game, a couple of weeks after it came out.  I kept expecting a Mass Effect 2 one, but it never came....

Please no more Starcraft. I really, really hate listening to podcasts that have a nonchalance to them when talking about a game that has so much depth as Starcraft 2. A podcast discussing SC2 should be a separate podcast not some crappy half-assed, misinformed 'discussion' about the current patch notes or tournaments where the hosts bungle around and go, "Oh, I don't know, some thing like this, yeah. +5 seconds or something."

Yeah, no thanks.

Shit-tier, SC1 and Broodwar way better. 'Nuff said
