I think it is a weird underhanded stab that doesn't make a lot of sense, because that game is really, really old and did some crazy things at the time. And there is a new game out, if he didn't play it yet he should just refrain from that comment in my opinion.

Let me explain my position by going into an extreme. To me it feels like saying this new FPS shooter a developer is making is like Wolfenstein 3D done right. It ignores that there is a huge time gap between that game and this new one, it ignores years of progress and it negatively portrays a game that is pretty well liked by a lot of people.

Now, this might make it seem like I am angry or upset at Patrick's comment, I am not at all. It just made me scratch my head.

Right does not always equal grabbing mainstream appeal. Although I guess as an MMO where, theoretically, everyone is battling in the same world (albeit different areas), it does factor in to a certain extent.

I hope that its not a mmo or multiplayer only FPS.

"PlanetSide done right" is a bit harsh a term. I played Planetside 1 for many numbers of years and still find it to be one of the best games I have ever played, certainly the most unique. 2 is also a very good game but I certainly would not say planetside was done wrong.

Concepts look great, also looks like we will be seeing some next gen stuff at the VGAs (seeing this game is also a Xbox Infinity game, I'm assuming fall launch title.) Wonder if these games will even tease dates.

It's kind of disappointing that they're heading back to alien, spaced-based sci-fi again. Oh well, shall reserve judgement until actual announcements come out!

pretty obvious this wasnt leaked. This is kinda pathetic and seems to be too common in this industry.

Amazed that they purposefully left the usb drive with the information on in some coffee shop as a leak. Well that's a pretty snazzy marketing strategy right there.

I wonder how authentic they tried to make the rest of the files on the usb drive look. Did they put some music on there too? Some porn perhaps?

PlanetSide 2 is PlanetSide done right. I'm not sure what the aim was with that remark as it just sounds bad, if you're going to insinuate MMO FPS wasn't done right you should at least cite a game that isn't 10 years old next year, like I don't know, maybe PlanetSide 2 that came out last week?

Apparently this "reaches beyond consoles" like stated in the main article on this page. However. If that means consoles first and a sucky port for PC, then I'm not interested either. I have no problems with a game coming for as many platforms as possible as I own both a PC and consoles but if that versatility is going to affect quality, I'd rather they stayed either on consoles or as PC-only.

One of the leaked images/promos has both the Xbox 360 and PS3 logos on it. It would be really surprising to me if Bungie decided to release this on the current generation of consoles. They would have to push this out fairly quickly into an already crowded spring 2013.

also yea its alien invasion, but i like the hook of that sphere is apparently earths protector, could be interesting.

also heard rumors from a friend that got laid off from activision in Minnesota that bungie has ambitions to make this game crossplayable (xbox vs playstation or co op with people on the other systems) by keeping the multiplayer server side or something of that sorts.

Bungie had a long and rich history on the PC prior to Halo. Can wait to see what they got!

I really dig the whole knight aesthetic being melded with this high-tech look. They aren't the first to do something like it (Warhammer 40K, for example), but they're really leaning into it more than most, and I think it works.

It's interesting to me that Halo 4 has a giant orb/ship vital to the story and here we have Bungie with a giant orb/ship at the core of it's story.....so who copied who and when do we get to see the legal finger pointing begin?

As for this "Destiny" game...it looks interesting but if it's an MMO I don't care as that's just not my thing. Shooter sure, MMO nah...I'm a lone wolf, screw the social aspect of gaming.
