Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Review

Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare, made Call Of Duty veterans every where want to cry when it was announced that it would be taking a big jump in history from the WW2 genre, to modern warfare. Eventually the community finally gave in, and accepted the fact, that this once majorly competitive WW2 FPS, was now being changed radically into a modern warfare game.

The WW2 feel to the genre was lost, but the Call Of Duty feel of game play was still intact, with a few added bonuses. Call of Duty 4 was an instant success winning Editors Choice on GameSpot, and Game of the Year in Spike TV's annual game show awards and on many other gaming sites around the globe..

First of all, the graphics in Call of Duty are simply amazing, it is up to par with everything on the market right now, and even when scaled down for more sluggish CPU's, the game still looks and feels great. The sounds are so realistic, and allow for a more competitive multiplayer. Listening for foot steps in the FPS genre has always been important, but is more important than ever with Call of Duty 4's realistic sound setup.

The singleplayer campaign in Call of Duty 4, is one of the most engaging campaigns in the series. The storyline really hooks you in, and the game play is fantastic... the only downfall is that the campaign is very, very short, and leaves you wanting for more.

The multiplayer in Call of Duty 4, adds many new features most notably, UAV's (Showing all enemy positions on the radar) with a 3 kill streak, airstrikes (calling down an air strike on any point on the map) with a 5 kill streak, and calling in an assault helicopter (Which flies around the map mowing down enemies, who can also shoot the chopper down) after 7 kills. These features really make it worthwhile to sit back, and get your kills without placing yourself in danger. The air strikes and helicopter strikes can change the tide of battle, the person with 7 kills and no deaths in fifth place, can surpass the player with 16 kills and 14 deaths in first place, within a matter of seconds.

Another added feature to the franchise is the ability to gain experience and ranks, much like the Battlefield series has done, but ranked servers are not charged for, meaning there are an enormous amount of ranked servers. Each rank awards a new ability or weapon. Also a new added feature are challenges given to complete, which award you experience upon completion (Like shooting down an enemy helicopter, get a 10 kill streak.. mostly all just odd tasks assigned).

All in all, Call of Duty 4 is one of the hottest games on the market right now, with its added features it sets it apart from the competition sticking to its infantry only style. COD 4 is a must play for all avid First Person Shooter lovers, you wont be disappointed

Call of Duty 4 does it even better. 0

I've been playing the Call of Duty series since the beginning, the original PC release. I've enjoyed every single one and actually have played them through more than a few times. The multiplayer in all of them have been extremely impressive. I'm probably one of the few minor people that aren't sick of the WWII games. I love them. I just hate that they all are the same exact thing. At least Return to Castle Wolfenstein took a different approach. However, Call of Duty has always been fun because ...

Great storyline and locations that don't let you get bored for a second. 0

Great storyline and locations that don't let you get bored for a second. Not bad graphics, though I never got used to the green smoke thing. They should fix this any time soon. It's really annoying. :)The one thing I didn't like is the fact that the guys the game is throwing to you are like...thousands. Which could have been fine, if it wasn't the fact that you can kill up to six or seven baddies before they manage to hurt you badly enough to force you look for cover. Bad guys just tend to die e...
