Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Game » consists of 23 releases. Released Nov 05, 2007

The fourth main Call of Duty game ditches the World War II setting of the past games to tell a story set in contemporary times, and backs it up with a breakthrough multiplayer mode.

Best single player FPS game of 2007

This game's single player is brilliant. It's short, but the gameplay is really enjoyable, and the regenerating health system works beautifully here. Some missions require you to snipe, others to use aircraft weaponry, and still others to search for an enemy leader. The environments are realistic and immersive, and the cut scenes are top notch, with excellent audio acting. My favorite part are the stealth sniping missions in Chernobyl, which are scripted beautifully and make for one of the best moments in the game.

The multiplayer, with its rank and upgrade system, can be just as fun and even more addicting than the single player component, and has attracted thousands of players on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. You simply cannot go wrong buying this game, because its a really polished game that will give you hours of entertainment.

I've been playing the Call of Duty series since the beginning, the original PC release. I've enjoyed every single one and actually have played them through more than a few times. The multiplayer in all of them have been extremely impressive. I'm probably one of the few minor people that aren't sick of the WWII games. I love them. I just hate that they all are the same exact thing. At least Return to Castle Wolfenstein took a different approach. However, Call of Duty has always been fun because ...
