I wanted to make this topic for a few reason
1. This is being made by Treyarch and while they have gotten better since the release of World at war, they are still low tier compare to Infinity Ward on call of duty.
2. Activision, enough said.
So where do you stand?
As for me I wasn't planning on getting the game but I will be getting it since a family member is giving it to me as a gift from a Newegg sale and it will ship a day before the official release so I really don't have a choice in the matter.
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Game » consists of 19 releases. Released Nov 09, 2010
The seventh installment of the long-running action franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops puts players into the early era of the Cold War (including the Vietnam War) as a member of the United States black operations unit known as the SOG.
Are you planning on getting this game?
Honestly, no.
I've never really been a huge fan of the Call of Duty series. At least, not enough to run out any pay $60 for a copy. Besides, there's New Vegas, Ghost of Sparta and GT5 on my plate, so my money's pretty much spent.
That being said, I will probably Gamefly it.
" I saw this thread, I knew it should be a poll, I knew it wouldn't be a poll. And I was right. "hehe, So often things aren't polls when they should be.
Anyways, I think I will. I am lacking a shooter since I sold BF:BC2 and MoH was a fun rental but this looks like a game which I could get some mileage out of.
Fallout New Vegas will probably be the only game I'm buying this Fall.
Then Shadow Hearts 2 for Christmas. If I have enough money on hand though, then I probably will.
Nope. I don't really like the COD style of shooter. Besides, my cash is going towards New Vegas, Borderlands GOTY, and Rock Band 3.
Yep. One of the reasons I'm not drinking the haterade this time around is because I deliberately restrict myself to one multiplayer focused FPS a year. That way, I don't get sick of everyone ripping off COD and just go straight to the source. Plus, with luck, all the annoying people will stay with MW2.
I used to be really into the MW shooters but now that everyone seems to do them more and more they no longer seem so fresh and fun.
uhh im not too sure... should i get this or force unleashed 2? im a pretty big fan of star wars and everything and i cant stop playing the demo. oh does this game have a nuke? cause that honestly pissed me off so much. the worst fps player can get a nuke...
" Why didn't you make this a poll? "I want to force people to state their opinion on this than just simply picking a choice on a poll.
That's a hard decision. I didn't like the first Force Unleashed game very much, but I could see why some people did, especially big star wars fans. I'll try out the demo of the second one, I'm curious now. By the way no Black Ops does not have a nuke anymore, and you can't have shotguns and SMGs as secondary weapons, so a sniper can't switch to his shotgun and waste you when you come into his cave. Treyarch are making some good changes." uhh im not too sure... should i get this or force unleashed 2? im a pretty big fan of star wars and everything and i cant stop playing the demo. oh does this game have a nuke? cause that honestly pissed me off so much. the worst fps player can get a nuke... "
Oh and on topic, YES I am buying this game day one. If you look at World at War, yes it wasn't as great because it's just more WW2, but all the new stuff they created and the whole campaign experience was solid. Now they've got a bigger budget than IW had with MW2, so I absolutely expect it to be awesome.
Get TFU2." uhh im not too sure... should i get this or force unleashed 2? im a pretty big fan of star wars and everything and i cant stop playing the demo. oh does this game have a nuke? cause that honestly pissed me off so much. the worst fps player can get a nuke... "
Anyways, I shall borrow this some few months later just to beat the story and for trophies. I hate multiplayer also and I don't want to be sucked dry of my money by Kotick.
I'm still on the fence,
I think I'll be getting Fallout Vegas first,
And I'm going to wait and see how this looks after it's been out a while.

It's nice to dream
I'm kind of on the fence about this one. I'll probably pick it up, but I doubt it will be day 1. I don't play multiplayer so it won't be a concern to come into it later. I was decently entertained by the campaigns in the previous COD games though, so unless this campaign bombs I'll probably get it.
yea. definitely. treyarch gets shit on too often. and only for cod3, which was at worst a mediocre game. theyve just been in infinity wards shadow. but now i see that IW lost its grip on good multiplayer which was demonstrated by mw2 online. it was unbalanced as hell. i remember world at war was an extremely well balanced game so i hope treyarch can handle it.
also, you shouldnt base whether or not you get a game based on the company that makes it. ever. if the game is good, its worth a buy. thats it
I'll probably end up picking this up since Socom 4 was pushed into next year. We'll see how it goes. I'm just hoping the story isn't so goofy like MW2 was, and...maybe longer then 5/6 hours.
My flatmates are super excutedabiyt but I'm the only one with both consoles. They said they will buy it and sell it to me if I move out for crazy cheap. So it looks like I will be at least playing it day 1.
I was going to, but I am pretty burnt out on the CoD franchise, and I don't think I want to spend $60 on it. As CoD games rarely go down in value, I won't be getting it for a while. I was almost sold on the bots, too.
Note: I am still kinda torn about this game. May still get it on release day, but i'll probably wait to hear more about it.
Yeah ive pre-ordered it. My favourite playstyle in MP is free-for-all and with the wager modes in this game i will hopefully have a blast. I also like all the upgrading and individualizing your character. Halo: Reach kinda lost me when i felt that what i did didnt really give me any progress that i could really feel. Playing MOH now and its kinda the same, it to tight on how you progress. The COD points will probably be a good change, we will just have to see.
Oh yeah and im looking forward to the campaing, im playing that first.
and you know this how?" yeah, i'm getting this game. it is going to be a good game. "
To answer the question at hand: I'm playing the wait and see game like I did with MW 2. If it turns out to be balanced, and have a quality single player story then I will get it. For MW 2, I waited, people complained a lot, I rented it, kind of enjoyed it and saved 60$.
" @iam3green said:i'm secretly from the future. just to tell you, you should rent it when it first comes out. the community is happy with everything but then once the game starts getting unfair people will start complaining. haters are gonna hate because they enjoy hatting on popular things.and you know this how?" yeah, i'm getting this game. it is going to be a good game.
