I thought this was supposed to be an action RPG.
But the gameplay trailer showed only the main character climbing a wall while a giant hand tries to stab him with a fork.
I really hope that is not the only gameplay in this game.... Does anyone have an idea what this is actually going to be?

Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Feb 17, 2011
The first game developed by Atlus for the PS3/Xbox 360. Made by the Persona Team, The game is an "adult oriented" action-adventure/horror game with puzzle platforming stages.
So.... what? It's a puzzle game?
It was never really said it was an action RPG There was speculation..
It even says on the Play Asia page for where they sell the game it's labeled strategy. And more or less yes that is the gameplay of the game, other than that you will be going to the bar and busy with texting Catherine and Katherine trying to keep them happy as you duck and dodge seeing both of them until you come to a decision on who you want.

Almost from the get-go, ATLUS' Persona team stated that they were intentionally straying away from their known formula to make something new. Eventually, they straight out said that this was absolutely not going to be an RPG. The core gameplay of Catherine can reductively be defined as being a puzzle-platformer.
I don't think that there is a game, I think they've just been spending the last couple years making those trailers.
The gameplay is what I'm most excited about.
I can't even remember the last time I played a retail game that wasn't guns.
I just hope the gameplay formula will get more evolved. After the Quick Look it almost feel i've seen everything the game has to offer. Nightmare = block platformer puzzler. Real life = typical JRPG interaction and dating sim. But man, the art style, the camera work and the "WTF"-moments are awesome, and that alone is a good reason why i would purchase this game... If it comes out where i live that is.
gameplay is actually one of the top points for me, I found the fighting insanely boring in persona 3 and 4. I remember spending two hours once on figuring out myself a... Five step fusion I think it was? All so I didn't have to level up the six levels I needed to be at for the usual way people solved that fusion challenge. I blame persona 1, it made me realize I want more strategy in a system like the persona games have, otherwise its just something to suffer through.
Catherine demo on the other hand I had fun playing :) simple set up, but lots you can do with it. I love a good puzzle, and the mix of strategy and speed made it even more interesting.
JRPGs are boring, this looks less boring to actually play. Assuming they introduce new facets to the puzzles at an even keel. Instead of thinking of it as "omg fuk this i want bufu" think of it like "finally, a puzzle game with story elements that doesn't suck a fat cock like Puzzle Quest, yay".
