Overview
The cherry is a small red fruit which grows on a tree and has a single seed in its middle. The cherry belongs to the Rosaceae family along with almonds and peaches.
Across the globe there are approximately 2 million tonnes of domesticated cherries produced. Around 40% of this production is Europe.
They have a very long growing season and crow in almost any climate. They have been documented to even grow in the northern Tundra.
In America they are usually cultivated in June and are often among the first fruit trees to ripen in the US climate.
