Crash Bandicoot is a 3D platformer created by Naughty Dog
Crash Bandicoot is a 3D platforming game set in a third person view, set in a fiction World. The game is set out on three different Islands after being washed up on shore, and your girlfriend being kidnapped by DR. Cortex. You take your character Crash through different and unique levels jumping and spinning out enemies performing tons of platforming with tons of danger ahead.
The gameplay for Crash Bandicoot is like your average 3D platforming game, with you taking control of your character to progress through each level killing enemies in your way, jumping on platforms. You can collect 100 Wumpa Fruit to gain a free life, and jump on boxes or spin to crush the box which contain Wumpa Fruit. There is also TNT crates (red) which set a timer counting down from 3 then blow up, as well as nitro crates (green) which blow up as soon as you touch them. There is also randomly placed tokens of your girlfriend placed in each level, and after collecting all three of them, it takes you to a bonus section which is like a 2D side scroller type section. The game is mostly 3D linear platforming with no roaming like Super Mario 64, and some parts of levels with camera angles changing around your character. While going through the game you have to jump over pits, jump on enemies and perform platforming parts that can be very difficult later on in the game. In most levels there is set up obstacles that has a pattern that causes you to use timing to get through either rolling wheels, or huge boulders that crush you, or even flaming platform steps. The gameplay is very well done in this game, but may feel broken at times, but still plays great. Overall the game is excellent, but doesn't do anything extraordinary, and has basic platforming elements with some unique features. The game consists of a world map, with levels, and after every 5 levels or so you'll have to verse a boss, in which you'll have to dodge something and hit them three times getting progressively harder, as adopted from the Mario series. The game has multiple ending, and if you collect every box in every level you'll get a different ending, also adding to the replay value of this game. Crash Bandicoot is probably one the hardest 3D platforming games you will ever play, but still very fun and unique.
The presentation for Crash Bandicoot is done very well, with unique characters and a very unique world keeping you involved and wanting to get more involved in the universe and learn it more. The music score for this game is done very well from the minute you are washed up on shore to the end of Cortex's castle you will feel involved and deep into the Crash Bandicoot Universe. Each character has their own unique and engaging personality, with not the most perfect game, it is still very fun and makes you want to keep challenging this tough game. This game is pretty good, and you should try it out and see what it is for yourself, and get into the universe and learn the characters for yourself. You can listen to other people talk about it, but playing it for yourself really puts this universe in your own mind, in your own way. This game is good, an is a staple for 1996.
