Crash landings are the worst and coolest kinds of landings. A crash landing can be due to multiple things, usually linked to your vehicle malfunctiioning. This can be a technical problem, or the fact that your plane has been damaged by something. An emergency landing is usually done on an improvised landing strip. The pilot usually aims for some kind of field or a long stretch of flat ground like a highway. 
Usually spectacular, a crash landing usually involves your plane or flying vehicle getting wrecked to a point of no repair. In games, you usually survive crash landings.
