Peter Molyneux's new thing from 22cans is out on IOS(android?). So go download it for free and come back here to give your first impression. I'm digging this collaborative effort in knowing what's in the cube so far. I'll report soon with more thoughts on this new app.

Playing it makes me feel like lab monkey. Maybe I'll get back to it when it's closer to completion.

I'll have to check it out later. I want to justify or deny my feeling that this sort of thing is a pretentious manipulation from the master himself. YOU FOOLED ME WITH FABLE, MOLYNEUX!

My first impression last night was "There aren't as many people drawing dicks as I thought there would be." Logged back on an hour later and this was no longer an issue.

I don't see the point of it, how good can the surprise be and how low are the ods of you opening the cube?

it is the epidemy of an addicting casual game. its simple and you do it on your phone/ipad for a few mins at a time. you save up money to buy tools that make it so you can do the work easier. i like it as much as i have liked any casual phone game.

i'm hoping the later layers are more fun and new gameplay elements are added. i made enough coins to buy a firecracker, meh. I don't see the point just yet

It's the perfect background game, been going at it while listening to podcasts, watching TV, etc. Getting a bit obsessed with trying to beat my highscore and becoming top tapper. Going to be pretty hard though, I've got 500k coins, and top tapper has 4 million.

EDIT: Well, fuck. The colours got all screwed up while I was tapping and I went to low battery, so I deleted and installed it again and lost all my coins. Brilliant. And the colours are still fucked.

I've tried it four times. It crashed four times. The times when I was playing it seemed boring and I don't really care what's in the box. So...the game probably isn't for me huh?

I was expecting a bit more of a game. Maybe there will be some more gameplay elements in other layers. I'm interested to see what happens with this even if I don't participate. I hope the one who "wins" will keep it to him/herself. That would be funny.

Got bored after ten minutes. I Guess I'm not that curious.

I don't understand why people keep trying to critique it as a game. It's clearly an experiment. Whether or not it's fun shouldn't even enter into the equation.

I keep loosing coins, whenever the server goes down I'm back to 640.

It's alluring in a creepy, OCD way, but the damned game keeps resetting my stats every time I launch it (when I can get it to run at all).

I'm surprised at how amateurish and shitty the interface is. It looks and feels like a Japanese coin pushing game.

With the way it is going through my battery I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't some distributed computing thing going on in the background and the secret is that by the time we get to the center we have cured cancer

I have yet to see someone else tapping in real time. Sometimes an entire area disappears all at once. Is the game lagging out?

That's how the game works; the server updates every now and then, it isn't real-time.

Any idea how to get text displayed on the cube?

The fact that only one person gets whatever "life changing" secret at the end of all this- and that they could potentially just decide not to release what it was- is what completely breaks the whole thing for me. It negates any sense of "I'm chipping in to help the community reach its goal" to "All I'm doing is clearing the way for someone else to swoop in and claim the prize."

I suppose if they'd named the game "Altruism" or something, then I could let that slide. But not so much as "Curiosity".

Well, you can still be curious about it, it's just unlikely that your curiosity's going to be satiated...

Sweet a new layer. That facebook icon gets in the way a lot. Does it go away if you sign into facebook?

As far as I can tell, it's whatever the person/people running the text finds interesting. A tweet got through once, so maybe that?

This game would be awesome if I could connect to the server. I'm on an Android tablet which could be the problem. Is anyone on the iPad experiencing connection issues?

I have tried connecting off and on all day. Still haven't gotten past that error.

It's buggy. It took me a while to join the server and then I was lost at what to do...

This feels like a programmer's inside joke and jab at the world. "Wanna bet we can get thousands of people to sit around and do nothing but tap on a box with no visible reward?"

On the 3rd gen iPad and it's totally fucked. Every time I try to open it the game, zoom in or tap anything it closes itself. If I get past that and manage to start tapping it will reset itself after about 10 minutes and I lose all my coins.

Just getting annoyed at it now.

Even more funny thing about this is that it's Peter Molyneux. So the magical mystery is going to be Peter Molyneux style highly underwhelming BS. And yet... the clamour for the mystery box continues.
