Darkroot Garden is a forested area located in Lordran that borders the Undead Burg and Undead Parish, as well as Darkroot Basin, the home of the dreaded Hydra. Very little light reaches Darkroot Garden, which provides the ideal environment to host Alvina and her shadowy Forest Hunter covenant, the sworn protectors of the grave of Knight Artorias the Abysswalker. Artorias' loyal hound, the Great Grey Wolf Sif, also stands vigil over his grave.
Strange experiments conducted by Seath the Scaleless have produced the Moonlight Butterfly, a magical creature who has made its nest atop a ruined stone tower in Darkroot Garden. These ruins are guarded by Giant Stone Knights which lie dormant on the ground until sensing an intruder's approach.
