How many ways of killing a zombie before you get bored?

The Dead Rising games have heart, you gotta give them that. Unfortunately, that's all they have, because the craftsmanship is really not good for today's standards and expectations.

I'll admit it: killing zombies in numerous ways is fun, always was, always will be. But that alone does not make for a full price game. If this was a $20 release - it would be great. But Dead Rising 2 is definitely not worth the money they're asking for it. Here are my reasons:

First of all, the story is as generic as it can possibly be.... so no surprise here, exactly as in the first game. I know I'm supposed to give a damn about Chuck and his poor daughter, but somehow I just don't. The game does not make enough of an effort to make me care about the characters. All I know is that I want most of the NPCs dead, because they're annoying fucks, to say the least. It's just the same old same old story. Zombie outbreak, survivors, military coming, yadda yadda, yadda. BORING SHIT.

Second, this game looks just awful. In this day and age you'd think the developers would give more of a damn about how their end product looks. Dead Rising 2 looks like games looked at 360's launch. The graphics are bleak and dated, it really looks like the game is 5 years old. Very unimpressed with the graphics. Same with the sound design. Boring.

So what exactly is DR2? It's an annoying, tedious ass game. Chuck runs like if he's a fucking 80 year old, and all there is to do in this game is bullshit uninspired quests and killing zombies. The killing zombies part is entertaining for about an hour. Everything else is just a total bust, which makes DR2 a very lousy game.

There was no concealing it, and definitely no attempt to, Dead Rising 2 is about as literal of a sequel as one can get. It's the same mechanics, the same layout, and the same premise, but with different story and characters.  I thought I had seen it all in the gaming world; Conker, First- person shooters in a different galaxy, Noby Noby Boy, but when I found myself in an Evil Knievel outfit riding a "sliceycle" whilst wielding a light saber, my view of the possible changed. Dead Rising 2 takes t...
