I have only listened to the first part of this week's bombcast, so maybe I heard wrong.
Brad said that the hardcore difficulty makes the enemies as tough as possible, with even less ammo and health around, and to top it all, only 3 saves and no checkpoints.
However, he was only correct on the latter, the hardcore mode is actually just about the 3 saves and no checkpoints, the enemies themselves are not tougher then what you would get in normal/hard (yes I know it is called something else, but F that).
 
No, this is not me crying over Brad, he is a cool person, and he might just be the reason why I am extra excited over this game.

You can die as many times as you want, but if you don't want to save until chapter 10, and you die all is lost...

Well that's good to know. Would be of downright sadistic if it was set to the hardest difficulty setting (well, below this one I mean of course) along with all the restrictions it forces upon you.

I'm afraid to even touch it. Died quite a few times on normal as it is, because the enemies tend to be very backstaby (patent pending). Losing a few minutes was irritating enough, this would simply be rage enducing.

3 saves...humm that doesn't sound too fun tbh.  Just means I'll have to make sufficient time to play the game and won't be able to just sit down for 15-30 minutes and play a bit.  I guess it will amp up the discomfort tho...make sure you don't screw up and break a window and get sucked out into space (like I did last night).  
 
I assumed when I heard 3 saves it meant 3 save slots but you could save as much as you want.  Which would of been fine because I only ever use 1 save slot.
