    DJ MAX FEVER Review

DJ Max Fever is a rhythm game for the PSP where you'll be the DJ tapping buttons to the indicated beat to unlock features within the game. The game also gives you the option of listening to the music you'll be performing as well as watch the videos that are showing during the game.

Graphically this game is hit and miss. There are certain skins for the phone (your playing field) and the hit marks that will throw you off and make it unclear when to hit the beat. The videos happening in the back look great, even the weirder ones.

Musically this game really works for techno lovers looking for a game with beats that they can rock out to. You're going to hear more original stuff as well as remixes of music that you may have heard before.

The controls kill this game. Going into the game I fully expected to have a game in which I was going to have a DDR experience. What I got instead was use a random button and just hit the crap out of it. With the default configuration you can choose to hit the left shoulder button to slow the beats down, or the right to speed them up.

This game seemed like such an interesting game to play, but what a let down. The best part of this game is the jukebox version and the video section. The actual game is so watered down and such a button masher that the game just isn't worth it. The game from time to time will stop the music going and its just you, I guess an attempt at a DJ solo part to the game, but it just takes away from the experience. Also there are sometimes where you're trying to match the beat indicator and a strange drum sound will happen which will throw you off because you thought you did something wrong. Lastly there are times that you know you're hitting the button on beat and its saying you missed the beat. There is unlockable parts to the game, but the game isn't solid enough to warrant a true desire to open a lot of options up.

If you want a game that you can listen to music from, and you really never need to play the game, then this is the game for you. If you want a rhythm game with techno beats, this isn't the game for you. This game gets a 3.1 out of 10.

A content filled, rhythmic gem from overseas 0

When people talk about DJ Max they usually refer to Beatmania, Konami's classic rhythm game that the series is based on. The gameplay may be similar but the presentation, original music and overall wealth of content that you find in DJ Max Fever makes it one of the best PSP games you can own.  Don't expect a Guitar Hero clone or any sing-a-longs, the Korean DJ Max series has always unabashedly been full of homegrown style and music. Even though this is the first title created specifically for we...
