Amuro Ray is the protagonist of the original "Mobile Suit Gundam" series and "Char's Counterattack" movie with a supporting role in "Zeta Gundam". The electronics geek stumbles upon the Gundam, a powerful prototype MS, during a Zeon invasion of his home colony.
The "eternal captain," Bright Noa is the most well known capatain of the Gundam franchise, and often heads the protagonist group in the various Super Robot Wars games. He commands the White Base, Argama, and Ra Cailum throughout the Gundam franchise.
The rival of Amuro Ray, Char Aznable is perhaps more famous than his opponent. During "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam", he joins the Anti-Earth Union Group as Quattro Bajeena and becomes a mentor to protagonist Kamille Bidan. His final appearance would be in a climactic showdown against Amuro in "Char's Counterattack".
Hayato Kobayashi first appeared in the original Mobile Suit Gundam as the pilot of the Guntank. He would later lead the Karaba resistance movement in Zeta Gundam and Gundam ZZ.
Kai Shiden is a character from Mobile Suit Gundam and its sequel, Zeta Gundam. In the former, he pilots the White Base's Guncannon mobile suit; in the latter, he works as a journalist for the AEUG and Karaba.
Kou Uraki is the protagonist of Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory.
Shiro Amada is the protagonist of Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team. He's no Newtype, not even an ace; he's just an average Earth Federation soldier who falls in love with a Zeon pilot.
