Maybe it's just me, but at 5 hours or so in, i find a lot of the back and forth, especially between alistar and morrigan (i'm sure i butchered those names) to be really chuckle worthy. Am i alone here?
Dragon Age: Origins
Game » consists of 20 releases. Released Nov 03, 2009
Dragon Age: Origins is an epic fantasy role-playing game featuring a rich story, personality-driven characters, and tactical, bloody combat. It is considered a spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate series.
Is Dragon Age funny?
I found the banter early on between Alistair and Morrigan to be pretty good, but it wasn't until I hit up the Dwarf Noble origin that I first had some burst-out-laughing moments. The ability to be such a complete dick to people with the whole "Gorim, why is this man talking to me?" type options completely got me.
Yeah I find the dialogue hilarious.
From the mage origin:
Statue: (Speaks in code... don't remember what it was)
Me. What does it mean?
J (don't remember his name): Rubbish! It could mean anything! I can do it too: The sun is darking. But lo! Here comes the dawn!
Also: I think they are referring to Mass Effect when the enemies say "I'm gonna destroy you!" Atleast.. I giggled.
It's got a nice dry sense of humor to it. The character Allistair is voiced by the same guy who played the British dude in UC2, he has a natural charm and has some funny quips.
Morrigan is all about sarcasm, it can get old really fast. That type of humor needs to be more subtle for it to not be obnoxious, unfortunately she comes off a little too on the nose.
Overall I found the humor balanced pretty well. I certainly found it funnier than a Crack in Time which seems desperate for a laugh.
So far the dialogue in this game has really impressed me, and I've definitely found a decent amount of humor in some of the banter. I have to give props to Claudia Black for having two of the best vocal performances of the year (maybe ever) as Morrigan in this game and as Chloe in Uncharted 2.
It pleases me that the dialogue is well written. Though I'm not really surprised, considering that the dialogue that was featured in Baldur's Gate was fanstatic. I'm really looking forward to picking this up soon.
