Leliana's Song: a review
The Dragon Age DLC has been getting a slightly bad reputation in that it continues Bioware's current idea that lots of DLC for their games come out, however they're not exactly that long. So far, Leliana's Song is the 5th out of 7 that they've put out and it's another roughly hour and a half DLC that gives you a nice reward in your Origins game or your Awakening game but is the DLC worth it? Well it's certainly better than Chronicles and it's actually quite enjoyable despite its short length.
During the main game, Leliana is in pursuit of a woman named Marjolaine, her mentor from the old days. Leliana's Song is kind of a flashback DLC that lets you see just what exactly happened between the 2 women. Similar in a sense to the Darkspawn Chronicles, this isn't so much as further quests for your Warden character to go through but it's a separate adventure you play as a stand-alone so only a couple of items will transfer and once it's over, it's over unless you want to go through it again. One of the cooler things about the quest though is that it's fully voiced so while your main character is Leliana, she's not quiet like your Grey Warden and upon picking your dialogue option, she'll fully voice whatever you pick which actually really helps the storytelling. But she does still have that quirky accent so hopefully you like the girl cause you'll be hearing her a bunch.
How's the length? Well my autosave just prior to the ending of the DLC I was clocked at 1:32 game time but keep in mind that there's a couple of achievements such as finding the piece of armor that not only Leliana can use in the DLC but she can also equip it in your main DA: O playthrough provided her strength is at a certain spot and framing a captain for a crime but should you ignore it, it's probably closer to an hour or so. The DLC is actually a pretty good playthrough, Leliana gets a bit more fleshed out as a character and the reward is pretty nice but ultimately the DLC depends on whether or not your DA:O saves want to go through the DLC or not as the items in vanilla DA: O or just the DLC experience may not scream "yes, I want this for my game". It's a pretty good addition but if you don't get it, you won't feel like your game lacks something because of it.
