Dragons.

Dragons aren't supposed to be evil demon beasts of satan, they're supposed to be large flying lizards, with maybe some wisdom sprinkled on.

Hey, who wrote the caption for this? Your ass should be fired On The Spot.

Get yourself a treasure pile son!

Monster Hunter: Western Sensibilities Edition.

#8 Posted by WarlordPayne (700 posts) -

It showed big Xbox Live and PSN logos at the end of that trailer.  Do offline games usually show that, or does this mean that it might have online co-op?

I saw a gryphon! Legendary 2: The Boxening confirmed!

#10 Posted by JackSukeru (5909 posts) -

Still doesn't tell me if this is really for me or not.

From the creators of Devil May Cry 4. I hope it has that same sort of feel to the combat.

@Aronman789: Well, i suppose they can change dragons mythology, so they can create their own little universe.
#13 Posted by ImperiousRix (2963 posts) -

I'm still not sure what the hell this game is, but I'm interested in learning more.

Based on this video and another one I saw awhile ago, I'm gonna say Demon's Souls-like gameplay with Monster Hunter-like coop. Could be amazing, but it will probably just be okay.

Has anyone mentioned how stupid Dragon's DOGMA sounds yet?

#18 Posted by Marz (5648 posts) -

Seems cool, like a Demon's Souls / Shadow of the Collosus hybrid.

#19 Posted by PixelSoldier (39 posts) -

There's something strange about seeing these European-inspired dragons coming from a Japanese game. Is that racist?

#20 Posted by jorbear (2517 posts) -

You play as the Dragonborn...

I am glad capcom is a trying a new ip

#22 Posted by Coldbrand (215 posts) -

Looks like ass.  Just translate a new MH for us instead Capcom.

#23 Posted by Xpgamer7 (2379 posts) -

The more I see of this game the cooler it looks.

#24 Posted by GioVANNI (1285 posts) -

This is truly the age of dragons.

#25 Posted by Mojokilla (36 posts) -

I hope this game isn't ruined by Japan-isms... Ugly text, hideous menus, terrible controls... Because, hot damn, it looks freakin awesome. I want it to as great as it looks!

#26 Posted by North6 (284 posts) -

is this proper apostrophe use? A single dragon has a dogma?

aka Monster Hunter: This Time Not an Abortion.

For some reason, I really like everything I've seen of this game. I feel like we've been seeing a lot of present/future games the past year or so. It's been a long time since I played a proper medieval game.

"Defy the dogma".. Uuuh-huh.

I understand that the japanese have yet to implement a working method of teaching a second language in schools short of university, but.. This is stretching it.. It really is.

I think they're trying to make a game that will be a hit in North America. Monster Hunter is not that game.

The bond with the dragon kind of reminds me of Cavia's Drakengard, but nobody's got a patent on dragon-riding.  I'm really pumped about this Western-styled action RPG, I gotta say.  Maybe it'll fill the hole left by my heart, which Robot Chicken-necked Oblivion so cruelly tore from my breast.

SPOILERS: last boss is a dragon

There's nothing weird about it. Japanese games have had western dragons in them for decades.

Looks a little janky in some spots (and perhaps a bit too much like Monster Hunter) but I'm definitely interested. Skeptical, but interested.

#36 Posted by neckface (61 posts) -

I don't think I want to defy the dogma, who am I to challenge what the Dragons hold to be true?

In medieval Germany, dragons were thought to be evil beasts that served satan.
From wikipedia on satan
  • The Book of Revelation twice refers to "the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan," (12:9, 20:2). The Book of Revelation also refers to "the deceiver," from which is derived the common epithet "the great deceiver."

As soon as it looks exciting, I'm reminded of how boring it sounds.. just listen

to the trailer, it's really boring! I suppose trailers aren't meant for pure listening,

but a more inspired sound design makes for a better trailer.. right?

Looks interesting,.

I'll wait for Dragon's Dogma 4

#41 Posted by paulunga (1984 posts) -

The narration sounds like madlibs.

#42 Posted by colinjw (216 posts) -

This looks a lot better than I was starting to think it would be.

#43 Posted by avantegardener (1117 posts) -

Reign of the dragon eh, some sort of 'dragon age' you might say.

#44 Posted by Loafroaster (30 posts) -

There'll be no escaping dragons in 2012...

#45 Posted by Progman9000 (258 posts) -

Oh man, that voice-over.  Wonder who thought it would be an awesome idea to insert a post-Don LaFontaine action movie announcer into this trailer?

I wish they would/could take more chances with bringing weird ass japanese titles over instead of trying to take a more 'western' approach to these kinds of games.

Still, looks interesting so far.

#48 Posted by MeatSim (10828 posts) -

Are you a dragonborn though?

I think they thought they were being clever with the DD name. They probably wanted something that reduced down to D&D. Give the monster in the game they could have called it Chimera Credo or Manticores Method, but C&C and M&M doesn't speak to the concept of rpgs as well.
