the mushrooms you see in Mario could just be normal mushrooms that when mario eats them, they empower him. simmilar to how Popeye gets empowered by spinach. this page should be directed more towards known narcodics and less towards out of context connections.
how can you tell the difference? if the ESRB warning says 'contains drugs and alhcolol' then you know that the game fits in here.

Life altering and potentially dangerous, drugs come in a large variety of forms. In most games, drugs can have significantly different physical and social effects on video game characters.
mushrooms are drugs?
"the mushrooms you see in Mario could just be normal mushrooms that when mario eats them, they empower him. simmilar to how Popeye gets empowered by spinach. this page should be directed more towards known narcodics and less towards out of context connections.Everyone knows the spinach was laced with meth.

I thought it would be more interesting that way but you have a point.
Unfortunately the ESRB warning only applies to US releases. In Germany for example we only have an age rating without warning labels.

Man, can somebody look at the back of the box of New Super Mario Bros. Wii and tell me whether or not it says "Use of Drugs" or "Drug References"? If it does, I will laugh my ass off.

Rating: Everyone
Content descriptors: Comic Mischief
Rating summary:This is a side-scrolling platformer in which players control the characters Mario, Luigi, and Toad as they run and jump through colorful environments with the goal of saving a princess. Players use an assortment of moves and power-ups—jumps, spin attacks, fireballs, turtle shell throws—to defeat the "goombas," "koopas," and other tiny creatures inhabiting "Mushroom Kingdom." Some enemies crumble into pieces when jumped on, get momentarily stunned, or make "pop-like" sounds before getting knocked off screen.
Nope, just comic mischief.
Yes, I think the DEA would classify Mario as a habitual drug offender. The effects of those shrooms are drug induced.
" @Emandudeguyperson:I just looked on the back of my New Super Mario Bros. for the DS and it is the same with comic mischief as well.Nope, just comic mischief. "
