Don't worry, Eli will still show up in episode three, if you remember from the original Half-Life, there were many many clones of Eli running around all over the place.

I was completely, utterly, totally devastated. 

His cries to Alyx, "Don't look, baby!  Don't look."  That's what got me.  He knew it was over.

I didn't cry. I'm not very good at that, however I was shocked and disturbed, but in oddly good way.

Wow, although I've already played Ep. 2, I can see how people would be upset over those spoilers. And I didn't cry.
