Hi guys,

With Drew's recent activity in Elite: Dangerous, I am gauging whether there would be support to start an official Giant Bomb private group.

I am willing to purchase a new copy of the game to open an Official GB group, but only wish to do so if there is worthwhile support (not financial) in making the group work.

I have a disgustingly long time in the game and enjoy helping new players into the game, which as we know is very obtuse for the uninitiated.

It would be great for us to meet up with Drew in the possible future play dates as he learns the game.

A lightly populated private group isn't great for random encounters (is essentially same as Solo) and I would not normally access one without a particular reason. I think you should probably save your money and either use an existing PvE group. or just create one with your name if you want to do something in particular (such as a GB ED meet-up!).

I'd have to agree with @vonner. There can only be a few hundred duders who play Elite, right? Even assuming that they are all on simultaneously, that's not many ships puttering around the galaxy to meet up with, except maybe at community goals and the like.

Great points. I guess all I want is a GB meet up.

We could meet in Open or Private group, add my group if you want, search "Embryo".

If @drewbert and @rorie see this we could schedule the meet at a particular place and time to suit the stream.

Yeah, there's no reason we couldn't just create a Wing on inara.cz and just organize that way? I personally enjoy the chaos that is Open (in fact, I've taken a few months off E:D and am about to start back up). The only times I go solo or private are if I'm doing a bounty hunting CG and just don't want to deal with the mass of people competing for limited spawns.

I'm well versed with ED and would actually enjoy something like this. I'm still just taking missions hauling stuff around to make more money for a fighter but would like a good reason to interact with other players for once besides just getting fried after exiting a FSD jump.

This is something I'm interested in. I started playing Elite: Dangerous again for the first time in a year or so, and I never really made it that far in the game. Just did some basic missions. It would be nice to get with a crew and have some guidance.

@brandondryrock: welcome to the wing cmdr. Get connected on the discord channel too.

The more people we have the easier it will be to find players while you are playing. We need a larger mass to make this a viable idea, matching time zones and play times.

I started up Elite Dangerous for pretty much the first time as well. Is anyone else playing on Xbox One??

@tyn0mite: you will find more PC players. However, over on the inara wing you can select your platform eg. PC/xBox and soon PS4.. So hopefully we can build up steam here and populate the wing with players of both platforms and still have GB meets/events.

I've joined, but as I'm near Colonia (heading slowly for core), it may be a while till I'm back in the bubble!

This is why I wish they would allow for the creation of guilds or corporations into E:D (and I am sure they are going to do it at some point). I would agree the private group thing is probably not the best way to go.

I'm not familiar with Wings on INARA. How are they better than an in-game private group? Private groups work out quite nicely in my experience.

@bane: The inara wing, along with the discord channel is a great way to post group messages to facilitate meet-ups and common events. The in game messaging is very poor at being able to schedule things. (added to the wing btw, welcome Duder o7)

I've been meaning to get back into this since the ~sightings~, updating now. I don't have Horizon, though--other than surface missions, what exactly am I missing out on?

We sat and chilled at the Lave Radio this evening while their podcast went out. I buzzed around in an FDL and Embryo brought a couple of Cobras (the police seemed determined to extract him from them it seems)

I'm already in a wing, but I'm down to meet up in space or whatever. I can help shoot other ships, or offer up a spot in one of my fighters when multicrew drops.

Sounds like fun. Just got Horizons, but still pretty new to the whole ED world. I spend most of my time bounty hunting NPCs. I'd love to team up once in a while with fellow duders, learn a few new tricks, and have fun. CMDR HalleckG65.

I'm effectively necroposting now, but I'd love to play/talk with any CMDR's on PC, I'm CMDR Sminmorph

I have ED for both Xbox and PC, but have invested most of my time in the Xbox version, and probably will continue to until I get a HOTAS for PC. I'm mostly running missions to earn Fed rank and void opal mining, but am always up for winging up, CMDR PatODay22 on Xbox.

I just started playing this a month or so ago (on PC), and have been completely hooked. The GB wing discord looks pretty dead, but theoretically we could make an in-game squadron if we wanted to, since that feature now exists.

Are you still playing? I've recently gotten back into the game, and am about to start gathering Guardian materials, which is a bit of a grind.. I've heard it's much easier when done as a group..

What activities do you typically do in-game?

@sbarre: I play in fits and starts, I mostly do exploring but I fucked up my ship while messing around in VR and was forced to return to the bubble after like 6k ly out from the bubble. But since I got back into the bubble, I've rebuilt my FDL and have just been bounty hunting for profit and enjoyment.

I haven't really been able to decipher the guardian or engineer stuff yet, I really make this game hard for myself by not looking anything up.
