Let's be quick here, the message 'Buy new pieces of furniture from an furniture shop if you want to update this item' appears on my screen constantly whether I am in front of an item or not. When I visit a Furniture shop the vendor has nothing but a book for me to buy.

I assume I'm locked on some part of something that prevents the sale of the items, but I am fairly far along in the game and have been doing a lot buying and selling homes and other things. I'd be able to buy furniture by know I'd think so something is wrong. Anyone else suffer from this issue, if it is an issue. Do you have an idea as to what is happening and/or a solution?

I had that this problem and was going crazy. you can get rid of it as soon as you have another piece of furniture to switch out. So just go to your house when you have a piece to exchange, and when your done making the swap the message will go away.
