Fable 2: See the Future DLC Review
If you are expecting a lot of content for 540 points (roughly £5/$7) then think again. It took me about two to three hours to complete and I was actually trying to explore and collect the statuettes and dyes lying around, for achievements of course. The story to this pack sees everyone’s favourite shady merchant Murgo (the merchant who gave you the magic box at the start of Fable 2) giving you cursed items that need saving. Yes that's correct saving. You jump into these items and save them. It all seems a bit random and at no point in this was I thinking, Okay I get the point of this.
You get to fight your way through two worlds that do have some clever twists such as in the first world all enemies are coloured and so are your weapons and so you can only kill let’s say a blue enemy with your blue weapon. The second world sees you helping out a trapped soul and it tries to add a puzzle element where you have to dress up as a Balverine, Hobbe and a Hollow to access different areas of the world. It all builds up to the third world which I won't say anything but you look into the future of Fable. Can you guess?
There is one new enemy (if you aren’t including the coloured enemies) the necromancer. There are also a lot of new items and weapons to collect, including potions that can change the look of your dog from a normal Labrador to a Dalmatian, Bloodhound, or Husky. These are fine additions if there was a solid single player mission to accompany them.
The final part to this content is the Colosseum. This is a good idea but is not something that you will be coming back to. All you have to do is in this is kill as much as you can in the allocated time to win prizes. It is a quick way of ranking your hero up if you need the experience but overall it’s a small little tacked on mini game.
Sure, this DLC might give players the chance to play Fable 2 again and it does a good job of doing that. I am glad they did not charge 800 points for this as it would be a way of getting money from us to say hey guys there will be a Fable 3. For hardcore fans of Fable it may be enough and for someone who is looking to experience the thrills of Fable again it's great. The price is fair for what you get but I just wish Lionhead thought of making a bigger expansion and charging 800 points.
