Fable III will be another one of those games you can buy in the shrink-wrap and get free content. Lionhead Studios has announced that each new copy of the RPG will ship with a one-time use voucher that will net connected users five items: a "Raise Dead" potion, a "Slow Time" potion, a "Scot" male or female outfit, a "Highlander Tattoo Set," and a "Red Setter" skin for the dog.

Joystiq thinks that this DLC might have some sort of connection with Fable III's in-game shop, which if you didn't know, will allow people to purchase extra content without having to mess with the Xbox Live Marketplace. At a presentation, Fable creator Peter Molyneux suggested that items like the above, as well as weapons, would be sold at a real cost via this conduit. Hello, micro-transactions and savings (provided these items will be offered.)

Fable III hits on October 26. You can also buy this particular Fable book and receive some free DLC in advance, too, if you're the collector type that is interested in such things.

The free rank of Slow Time is some seriously hot shit. Had already pre-ordered this just sweetens the deal.

Ugh. This game can't come fast enough. 3 of those items seem dumb but the outfits, tats and the dog skin are cool. I was hoping for something more like the Alan Wake DLC voucher that gave you The Signal for Free.

This wouldn't be enough if I wasn't a fan of the series.  But as it is, I really did enjoy Fable 2, so I have already preordered a copy.  This is a little bit of cool extras, but nothing I'd go out of my way to snatch up.

Those extra items in fable II you got with the DLC weren't worth anything for me so why should I care about micro-transaction? It's not like they won't let you finish the game if you do not have the items.. (same with ME2 btw)

Free dlc bundled with the game is allways welcome. I am looking forward to seeing how this game plays out as I liked number 2 but I hope they fix issues that game had such as co-op forcing players to be on the same screen area at all times.

Weird. I'm not really into paying RL money for game items. Potions and things aren't interesting enough for me to shell out a couple more bucks. I'd rather have actual quest content that has the items in it.

It seems like a lot of people feel a little in the dark about Fable III. I wonder if Lionhead put less information out there this time so people won't know exactly what to expect. i think that'd be a better marketing move for them, anyway.

Yes and potions aside from healing ones in Fable tend to be permanent - Skill, Will and Strength potions all boost your stats permanently, same goes for the Height, Weight, and Skin related potions. Nothing about 'Slow Time Potion' potion suggests it will be single use - that would be worthless.

I'm renting Fable III, i can't say i'm too excited about it not after Fable 2, Peter needs to stop being so concerned about making Fable "The Sims" and should be more concerned with making a good plot that is longer than 2-3 hours and making sure the co-op isn't broken.

I have no problem with game companies giving out free content with a brand new copy of the game, but don't go out of your way to put that as a selling point. It's just dirty.

Second. Waiting on all the reviews, I loved the first, 2nd was okay, this one seems all right. Either way, I'm making sure it's worth 60 bucks before investing.

I'm still waiting for my Limited Edition DLC for Fable II... The fact that they never delivered on their limited edition content promise (after that whole snafu with the LD DLC) was the last notch in the Ltd Ed game buying coffin.

A lot of people have been saying this, but there's actually several videos out there that show a LOT of gamplay.  I'd actually say they've shown far too much of the actual game.  Definitely crossed over into spoiler territory, in my opinion.

As I said before I'm really curious to the king/queen aspect.
The revolution itself looks like a proper blast to play but being grounded in your palace and going around town passing judgement sounds like beefed up version of what I did in Bowerstone town in Fable 2.
I don't have high hopes but I really want to know if I'll be disappointed after the revolution/adventuring is done...

I can understand a game like The Sims 3 sporting an in-game shop, but Fable III doesn't come off as a game that really requires it - unless it's going to add additional quests (a la Mass Effect II) and not just useless cosmetic crap...

I dont think its a pre-order is it? The story only mentions it as a pack in when you pick it up new ala the signal in Alan Wake or that golem thing in Dragon Age.

Anyway i was already planning to pick this up so whatever they want to throw in (however useless) is fine by me.
