I'm might go get him soon and have seen some mixed feelings on the dog. Anyone got it yet? Is he trouble or actually useful?
Fallout 3
Game » consists of 45 releases. Released Oct 28, 2008
In Bethesda's first-person revival of the classic post-apocalyptic RPG series, the player is forced to leave Vault 101 and venture out into the irradiated wasteland of Washington D.C. to find his or her father.
Dogmeat, useful or burden?
"wait...so he's a dog you can get? I knocked him unconcious early in the game and figured he was part of some quest."
Okay. The scrapyard is between Minefield and Bethesda Ruins, if you have those. If not, Bethesda Ruins is on the road northeast of Megaton, and just go north from there.
I just got him... and pretty much the first thing he did was agro some strong enemies i couldn't handle... then I tried to tell him to go to vault 101 to get out of danger... but he decides to continue fighting lol. Had to reload because he died... so he lives up to his rep. But when I fought enemies I could kill... he was a pretty damn good tank and did pretty good damage.
You can talk to him and tell him to stay and find items. But it's AI controlled he just keeps attacking crap when you're near an enemy even when you tell him to do something, I think... I only tried telling him to go back to the vault. He also glitches corners and jumps a lot. He also made the fire ant queen glitch into the wall for me which was great haha.
"Okay. The scrapyard is between Minefield and Bethesda Ruins, if you have those. If not, Bethesda Ruins is on the road northeast of Megaton, and just go north from there."Lul Bethesda Ruins... ya I wish.
I got him but he died right away because of some Mercs.
So I re-loaded and locked him in my house.
Dogmeat can be really good or he can suck. Maybe has to do with crts on him? More often he runs off on me and gets killed before I even notice hed gone, or something glitches and he dies. IE I went into the washington monument, your party does not follow you in. I go up the elevator and get a msg that he has died.
Dogmeat is a total dick. I tried taking him out for one adventure, he ran off so far I couldn't even see him, and by the time I found him he was killed by a shitty Protectron. I loaded the save, took him back into My Megaton House, and left him there where he was and where he will stay for the rest of the game. I'm not out ranging the wastes simply to babysit a retarded dog.
"Dogmeat gets OWNED by robots. Many of his deaths for me were from him running off and fighting one. His perception is 10x better then yours, when he growls there is something nearby, and you need to worry about him running off."That's why I don't like him. His AI is way too simplistic.
Well the AI is simplistic because, well, he is a dog. But I like him (maybe it's because He was super awsome in Fallout1 )
"Well the AI is simplistic because, well, he is a dog. But I like him (maybe it's because He was super awsome in Fallout1 )"You can train a dog not to attack unless its master says so; you can also train a dog to stay within a certain radius of his or her master. Dogs are incredibly malleable. I just wish we at least had the option to do that. It's within realistic bounds (and this isn't even a hyper-realist game).
