I know this might not be a new topic on these forums, but at least it's one that doesn't take long to answer.Short story is i'm a student right now,so money is tight,i can't afford all these games coming out this time of year.Anyway's the point is,from what you guys have heard/seen/played, do you think Fallout 3 is worth my 60 dollars or should i head down to my local Blockbuster on the day of release and try to go through they're idiocracry about game release dates to try to rent a copy of what is shaping out to be one of the best titles of the year.
Fallout 3
Game » consists of 45 releases. Released Oct 28, 2008
In Bethesda's first-person revival of the classic post-apocalyptic RPG series, the player is forced to leave Vault 101 and venture out into the irradiated wasteland of Washington D.C. to find his or her father.
Rent or Buy?
I think it is worth the sixty dollars. Plus, I don't think you would be able to enjoy the game and play all the way through in one rental...
this if for sure a buy. it will have the most gameplay of any game that is coming out this year, a great story, a huge world, you will really get bang for your buck with this mother fucker.
Of all the games coming out, this one is more than worth your hard earned money. hey man, we're in the same boat ( i'm a struggling Grad student) but this game is worth it!!!!
Its deffinitly worth it. Even with major open-world games like Fable coming out, this is most likely going to be worth the most since it is supposed to have a TON of stuff to explore and do, and many different ways to play through it. But, if your blockbuster has the whole "no due dates thing" and ur rlly, extremely, unbelievably strapped for cash, rent it and keep it till ur bored

Sure.
Do I think it is worth your money now? That's debatable. It will definitely be a game worth playing, and I don't think you'll enjoy the full scope of it during the time span of a single rental, but it really comes down to how much pleasure you think you'll get out of a game like this versus the enjoyment you may get out of another game that is coming out during this holiday rush.
I am also a student (in college), so personal funds, much less personal free time, is a serious issue as well. From my perspective, I can pretty much assure you Fallout 3 will be a purchase for me.
If you 'rent' it normall persay, as in your standard 3-5 day rental, good luck on having the best experience with it...its not gonna happen, unless its gamefly its not worth trying to rent this game, it just has too much content and you won't even get close into what it has to offer...if you're iffy and you want to rent this game, gamefly it, if you don't got an account already, if not...this is definitely worth 60$ for a SP game...will last you a long long time, and several playthroughs probably with all the choices.
Seeing that you'll barely scratch the surface of the game with a rental, buying the game is probably your best option. If "The Elder Scrolls IV" is anything to judge by, you'll be playing this game for a LOOONG time.
Buy it. I already have my Collector's Edition pre-ordered. =) I got a cool CD with a sampling from the soundtrack and a poster.
Well from my point of view its a definate buy. I will be making a point to go out and buy this as soon as it is available. And as some others have pointed out already, this is a big game so you are never going to see but a small sample of what the game has to offer over a rental period. If you are leaning towards the game already I would just take the plunge with out worrying about a rent. But I cant see how giving it rent first would hurt if you are too unsure about it.
