    i love jrpg stories but hate grinding (enough that i never finished ff7)  is the game balanced out so that i don't need to grind?

    Yes. It does require ginding. Grinding however, is not really needed.

    ...once you get to an area in which if I mention will be spoilers, you can easily grind and make a lot of points to level up your stats.  Once you figure out how to game the 5 Star Victory system, grinding becomes pretty easy.

    I laughed at that part...anyone who has played the game knows how important getting 5 star victories and those points are.  You can't survive this game without grinding.

    Of course. When especially a difficult boss is coming up, you might need to grind to level up and hopefully survive. I haven't played XIII, but I imagine it is an rpg, so grinding is necessary...I think.
