I've never played a Fire Emblem game (sad, I know), and I thought this might as well be the time that I actually play one. I did a little research about Fire Emblem and this game specifically, and I've got to say, I'm pretty hyped.
Fire Emblem: Awakening
Game » consists of 11 releases. Released Apr 19, 2012
The thirteenth game in the Fire Emblem series and the first for the 3DS. Conceived as a "greatest hits" of previous Fire Emblem ideas, it features a mix of new mechanics and older gameplay concepts.
Demo Out Soon!
Motherfucker. It opens with the main character having amnesia.
Edit: Okay, I managed to make my eyes stop rolling from his amnesia to see a surprising game. I didn't really know what I was getting into so I had no expectations but it's a damn fine looking game and a pretty fun one to boot.
3D character models look great and so do the battle scenes.
Art looks good and I already like the characters I was shown.
A few complaints to go along with it cause you gotta have those!
Their legs kinda look like this:
\/\/
and it weirds me out.
I wish the world map and battle map used the 3D models and not sprites, or even just better looking sprites, but models would have been preferred.
Yup. that's about it. Wish it were coming out sooner, I'll see if I still want it come Feb 4th (which is a Monday?) or if I'll put it aside for a later date.
Preordered it already and was looking forward to the demo. It did not disappoint. I know I must really like this because I feel like punching Nintendo for not giving me more to mess around with. Oh well, off to see if I can beat it on Lunatic.
EDIT: Lunatic is the devil.
holly hell didn't know there was a demo must download now. I have been waiting for this game for ages
I was going to play as a lady but now I need to play as a dude so I can get my fire all over that red heads emblem.
The Demo was pretty damn awesome. The hardest difficulty was pretty much impossible. I absolutely cannot wait until release. The Game sold really well in Japan, I hope it sells appropriately more in the west so Nintendo will release more Fire Emblems over here.
Intelligent Systems has been putting alot of great stuff lately with Pushmo, Crashmo, Paper Mario, and now Fire Emblem. Hopefully they keep up the releases and maybe some stuff that will tempt me to get the WiiU.

I checked on the e-shop and could not see it I am going to assume the demo was only in the USA.
North America, more accurately. This demo is for the U.S./Canada market. I imagine the European demo will appear when the release date for that region approaches.
I'm way excited for this game. Might pass on the demo though, so I can just start the actual game PURE AND INNOCENT.
What does the demo entail, anyway? First couple of chapters?
Demo was dope, I'm looking forward to the retail game.
The demo is the first two chapters/the first two fights.
Ah man, I cancelled my pre-order for Fire Emblem because Ni No Kuni falls fairly close but after playing the demo I'm considering putting it back on hold. That was a tonne of fun even without understanding how the whole unit placement thing works.

Stupid question, how does one go about downloading this?
go to the eShop, select Fire Emblem (should be the second one on the main screen but you can probably find it in the New Arrivals), then the left option is the one to download the demo.
I must download this demo like now. I loved the Dragon one on DS, can't remember the name of it. Either way I was always a careful son of a bitch that would not let anyone die, this time it is different! >:D
@SuperWristBands:
I have one awful feeling this is only in America and not in Europe, please tell me I am wrong, PLEASE TELL ME I AM DOING SOMETHING STUPID BECAUSE I CANNOT FIND THIS GAME!! :(

No, that seems to be the case. It's up in North America but not in Europe :(
No demo for us yet, sorry. In fact I don't think there's a concrete release date for this in Europe yet other than "maybe April".I have one awful feeling this is only in America and not in Europe, please tell me I am wrong, PLEASE TELL ME I AM DOING SOMETHING STUPID BECAUSE I CANNOT FIND THIS GAME!! :(

Well that's a kick in the face! I had a really excited feeling when I saw this topic.
I think Australia has it worse, they're on the same stupid release schedule, plus they have to pay a bunch more for no real reason.

The demo was just two combat missions and some story from the prologue. It doesn't spoil anything and doesn't last long enough to make you feel like you will have to replay alot of stuff once you get the full game either.
I am in love with this game after the demo (even more so than I was before the demo) but I have to ask: was the Japanese version fully voice acted, like Devil Survivor: Overclocked? In the demo I thought it was weird how each piece of dialogue was either entirely voice acted, partially voiced acted, or merely had a single word or grunt in front of it. Anyone know if this is just an issue of not being able to have the full voice work done by the time the demo went to cert, or if this is how the game is going to be?
There's not many times a demo completely sells me on a game I had no interest in. This is one of those games. Just preordered before from Amazon. Pretty excited about this. I encourage people to give the demo a shot, even if you haven't played the series before like myself. It's pretty great.
Now I just hope Amazon delivers on time. They had a potential warning about shipping delays.
@rjayb89: Same here. I'm glad that demo has a 30 limit instead of 5 like another one I played recently.
The demo got me really excited for this game. In retrospect, I shouldn't have played it because now it's gonna be hard waiting for the 4th.

No, it wasn't. Only the CG cutscenes were fully voiced in the Japanese version, and that looks to be how it'll be in the English version too.
Just finished the demo and gotta admit, it's very nice. The 3D in it is great, it looks like I'm looking into a box that a bunch of people are playing Warhammer or some other table top game in. Never been into the Fire Emblem franchise but I might give this a try, depending on how busy I am around release.

Fair enough, thanks for the reply! I'm still super excited for this game :D
