The Flatwoods Monster, commonly known as the "3 Meter Tall Alien" in Japan (3メートルの宇宙人) is a highly recognizable fellow who has appeared in a surprising number of games. He was encountered on September 12, 1952 in the woods at night by a group of youths and Kathleen May in Braxton County, West Virginia. Apparently he was proceeded by fog and a "metallic smell" that irritated the eyes and noses of the witnesses. Since the 50's, he's become more well known in Japan than in the United States; as a consequence he has mainly found employment as a boss or enemy in various Japanese-developed video games.
