Batman: Arkham Knight's New Date Is June 2

Batman: Arkham Knight was supposed to be released this fall, but it's actually coming on June 2, 2015.

That's it. Go on with your day.

Really? Later than I thought. Figured it would be before fiscal.

I guess it's nice to have a date. I'm definitely in the camp of "always happy to wait longer for a higher quality release," so if this extra development time guarantees that then no problems there. I'm also still totally into the idea of a bit more Rocksteady-brand Batman.

On the plus side, the usually dull month of June will have a nice blockbuster to fill the time.

They should take their time and make it the best game possible.

Considering it's their last one, I say take as much time as they need.

There must have been some bigger problems with the game if the release has been pushed back for almost a year.

The game will probably turn out to be fine since its rocksteady and there are plenty of other games coming between now and then to tide us over.

Lot of confidence WB has to give these guys a ton more time.

Game dates are usually placeholders at this stage, that is why alot of games are "delayed"

It would be nice if they're taking that extra time to take guns out of the Batmobile, but that's just a pipe dream...

The date *is* further back than expected. Maybe all that "batmobile is fun but is too prominent" feedback got back around to them.

As sad as I am that it was delayed, I'm happy they're taking their time to get it right. I'm even happier they've nailed down a date. Looking forward to next june!

That is a long delay! Well, I suppose I can wait. I loved Asylum, didn't feel City nor Origins that much, but I'm sure as hell gonna give this one another shot, so take all the time you need Rocksteady!

That Batman vs Superman movie is due to release at a similar time, right? Having a Batman game coming out around time is smart.

"News" like this doesn't deserve to be on the front page. You don't need more than the title to know everything that's going on. Retweeting it is more than enough.

Love it, my plan of holding out until 2015 to get a PS4 is going off without a hitch.

Unless the movie is as god awful as it's looking to be.

Chances of the game looking like the Sony E3 footage steadily approaching zero...

The movie is coming out Spring 2016.

Batman Arkham Asylum is one of my favorite games of all time it's so tight and well done and I love Batman. Can't wait for this one and hope it's completely done by that time. Keep pre-order bs and DLC out of my face and I'll be a happy bat.

That's fine with me since the summer months usually suck for video games.

Good that they delay instead of releasing broken game, but this much? I don't think it's just finishing touch they are doing. Hopefully the game will be awesome.

@nightriff: Realistically, though, if Rocksteady's got a street date after delaying the game for 9 months, it's a fair bet we'll see it on time.

Freaking finally a game that releases in the summer

I'd rather they took their time to get it shipped in a working state and its not like we'll be without something else to play by then.

@stryker1121: I can't think of an example off hand but I'm sure we have seen a solid release date being delayed regardless.

Publishers should really keep their mouth shut when it comes to release dates if they're going to miss the mark as much as they so often do. I guess that it's a shitty and effective tactic of getting people to buy hardware earlier than they normally would.

That puts my plans for a PS4 even farther down the line...

Then again, its probably for the best.

They've been working on this since City, right? I really hope this will top every previous Arkham game and with the amount of time they had for it, it should be.

On another note, I just recently played Asylum and City for the first time and was quite surprised at how much of an improvement the second one actually was. From reviews and internet talk I always assumed it was just more of the same but on a bigger map.

Considering how rushed Arkham City felt, this is probably for the best. I mean, it sucks we have to wait longer, but if the end product benefits then it'll be worth it :)

Hey man, some people still held on to their Duke Nukem Forever pre-orders for all those years. Depends on how devoted you really are!

Wow makes you wonder what the game must have been like before they first announced the delay. Over 6 months of a delay is pretty huge, have to wonder what caused it.

They picked the best time. The start of summer seems like a great time to release your game. People will be starving for something new for the summer.

I know alot of people seem to have been expecting the release date to be around February, which I never thought was going to happen. The Witcher 3 had been set for February for sometime now, and with WB Games publishing both The Witcher 3 and Arkham Knight, you'd think they'd try not to step on their own toes by releasing two major games so close to eachother.

June's a good date, too. Having such a big game release during the summer can be great for me to just pour hours and hours into it.

They started taking preorders before it was delayed though, in like May.
