I don't really trust most sources to accurately judge these games' quality anymore, but its pedigree alone is enough for me to give it a shot
... if I had a PS4, that is
Hooray! Super excited to have a reason to use my PS4! Glad these people and other's really like it.
Patrick seems to realllly like it, and after watching him go through the other Souls games, that is a good sign.
@johnnymcginley: What about Dr. Cox from Scrubs?
@giantstalker: Game Informer's Dan Tack knows these games better than any mainstream reviewer.
High review score, but he has the knowledge to really understand these games.
I'm not really interest in Bloodborne but I like the feeling of people getting hyped for a new release. That Quick Look Live should be fun.
Hmm. I abandoned both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls after a handful of hours so I'm not convinced that this will be the one to grab me, but I think I'll give it a shot anyway. Kevin VanOrd's review makes it sound interesting thematically which could be the thing to keep my attention.
Finally, a great exclusive for PS4! Praise the sun.
Praise the moon*
so excited. I was going to play it regardless, but this is awesome to see nonetheless. I feel like a kid again, and this game is my christmas + birthday in one.
@johnnymcginley: Real excited to get off work and wait outside my local gameshop to collect my preorder (and special edition if no one else is there before me). Wish I had the balls to go all Japanese Dragons Quest and just call in sick.
Whatever. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Unless it's the absence of a sick art book.

It looks good but does it look $450 good... Hmmm...
Don't forget your PlayStation Plus subscription and tax. For me, Bloodborne would be a $550 investment. I just can't justify that kind of expense to play a game, and there really aren't any other PS4 exclusives that I am even remotely interested in. If I was going to invest that big of a chunk of cash into gaming right now, it would be into another monitor or perhaps another GPU.
I'm glad the reviews are looking good, though! Maybe one day down the line I'll end up with a PS4, or can borrow one to play the couple of exclusives that interest me or something like that.
Awesome. So excited. Kinda wish I would have went digital but I had the 20% off from Best Buy so gotta wait for the mail tomorrow.
From all the content I've absorbed in the past hour, this game looks super exciting. I guess I won't talk about specifics, but it seems like the developers realized how the dark souls formula was getting slightly stale so they've made some very interesting changes that keep the game in the same vein, yet introducing new and exciting mechanics. I am super excited to see what kind of tone and atmosphere this game has; from what I've heard it sounds awesome. From 4 pm tomorrow afternoon (when i get off work) I know what I will be doing with basically all of my free time.
Yeah! All I need now is a Playstation 4! And money to rain down from the heavens so I have the $460 needed to purchase one and Bloodborne at the same time!
As a side note, I really like that it says PREY SLAUGHTERED when you defeat a boss.
@mb: Disgaea 5, man. Makes it all worthwhile.

I thought Destiny was the one that was going to make it all worthwhile?
Ooooh...too soon? :D
@arbitrarywater: Wow that's great.
Every time I decide to go to Gamespot for a review I remember how toxic their community is. Not their fault of course, they are a huge website but man some intolerable shit on those comment sections. Makes me glad Giant Bomb exists.
Anyway, Bloodborne woooo!
Nah man, odd numbered Disgaea games are bad everyone knows that!
FWIW, here's Brad's (120 character) opinion:
"@bradshoemaker Embargo is up. 1st day order - Verdict: Y/N?"
"@fantasycapper if you like Souls it's a no-brainer. if you don't, skip it"
The framedrops and loadtimes are a shame :<
PSA that needs to be spread: Framedrops in PS4 games are very often solved by rebuilding its HD database. This is due to its filesystem being far from optimal, but maybe cheaper to license.
Oh ya? I could give this a try but I'm hard pressed to believe it will fix it. The frame rate is really saddening me. It's down right terrible at least in this beginning area. It must be sub 25 at least. Plus my PS4 sounds like a vacuum cleaner which isn't the norm.
@mb: Disgaea Persona 5, man. Makes it all worthwhile.
Dammit, I was going to not buy this because I have a massive backlog but I think I might have to now. Doesn't hit stores till Friday over here though.
Might stay away from to many details, don't like it being to spoilt.
Every time a Souls game comes out it's fun watching the usual haters in the media get super salty about it (like Gies of Polygon and Stapleton of IGN). They just can't seem to wrap their heads around these games and always just use the worst reasoning for not liking them.
Also I could be wrong but I believe Gamesradar gave it a 4.5/5 yet called it a "masterpiece". Games media ladies and gents.
I was just watching a Twitch stream and the guy playing beats up a bunch of monsters, starts to climb a ladder, gets distracted near the top and takes one step off the ladder in the wrong direction falling to instadeath.
Classic Souls.
Sounds like they hit out of the park with this one. The bits I've seen streamed look really really good. Wonder if this will be the Souls game to finally get some recognition come GotY year at GB (I can't see Jeff letting it win, but maybe it will make the top 5 for once?)
Brad's got a stream at Gamespot up already with Erick Tay.

After five hours straight with it (took a break) I have not had anything but momentary millisecond hiccups of framerate issues that got in my way and disturbed me, I rebuilt database before going in. The loadtimes are more of a "come ooooooon" than something I can just forget about though. The rest is 5/5, 100/100, 100%, The Phantom Pain will have to rock harder than imagined to beat it for GOTY.
@kishinfoulux: I'm not sure what you mean...if gamesradar gave it 4.5/5...that's nearly a full score....9/10, 95/100...that clearly means they love it.
