Is anyone actually excited for this? I should have seen this coming but I had hoped they'd stick to strategy.

I should be but considering the gameplay changes they're bringing to it (FPS?) it just seems a little...off to me. I'm not saying that it's bad or anything but it just seems to break the nature of what the X-Com series is about. Now that I think about it though, it if comes off as something like Valkyria Chronicles then I might just work. For now though we don't have any gameplay videos or anything to make a good judgement about.

@EndSarcasm:  I'm more excited for  Xenonauts, the unlicensed remake.

I'm interested to see how 2K Marin will do this. After all, there was a lot of skepticism about Bioshock 2 and they pulled that off excellently. Maybe they will surprise us with this too.

Not really.

Bioshock 2 wasn't innovative in terms of gameplay, and it wasn't interesting in terms of story. It was technically a fine game though. I'm sure X-Com will be a more than competent FPS. That's just not really enough to get me excited anymore.
